Are you implying that one shouldn't train to become pro? You don't just come out of the womb a Starcraft pro. What do you think pro players do? They "play game after game for 12 hours in a cramped room." That's how you get good at Starcraft. Korea is good at Starcraft because of things like this. You say nameclan and shieldclan are 'pathetic'. Is Sea pathetic, is Bisu pathetic? They came from Shield clan. Along with many other progamers.

WOW! So cool... I wish they had places like that here in the states... $240 us dollars for uncapped sc skill/playtime... ahh the bittersweet-ness of a college education

Nice video, thanks. I don't understand what's wrong with all in builds though, if some zerg goes 3 hatch, cant a terran guy try to do some crazy 4 rax build?

Those are 2 of many, I feel bad for those who just aren't good enough to make it to the real deal ;(

the vast majority of new progamers come from houses and teams like these. if you want to be a progamer it makes absolute sense to practice like one. sure alot of them arent gonna make it. should no one play high school or college sports since most of them are never gonna play professionally?

I don't need to be an authority to say that it's a shame that the ones who don't make it to the professional level have wasted time and money =/

or you could read the rest of my post did the highschool and college athletes waste their time? theyre doing something they enjoy, alot. if they fail oh well, they go back to school. hell alot of them continue going to school during this, just staying at the house on breaks and weekends. spending your time doing something you enjoy is not wasting it.

How could you actually compare this to high-school/college sports -.-'' American Athletes get paid a real salary, even low level professionals, I'm under the impression(could be wrong) that these guys are there all the time, not just on breaks/weekends. My understanding of pro's is what H_Paul_WII explained to me, these people practice 11hours a day and they end up at the "semi-pro" level for years then they amount to nothing in the real world =/ Which is also why Paul didn't pursue his gaming because he said there's no future for those who aren't at the top.
Now if people enter these houses as a part time thing I can understand it... but at full time it seems like a waste if they don't reach the top.

I usually have one of these big disputes on tl.net every 4-5 months... I still think my argument is realistic.

remember what i said about posting when you dont know what you're talking about its not a good idea
i know people who live in these, the majority of them still go to school.
how is it not comparable to high school or college sports? yes professionals get paid. high school and college athletes dont, or arent legally allowed to. these guys are not professionals, so they dont get paid. pro gamers do get paid, even the low level ones. at what point is it not comparable?
given your past posts you have a tendency to lie and exaggerate about your connections with koreans. (joined gm yet?) but even if you do know paul, your source of information is someone bitter about attempting progaming and not making it. perhaps not the most objective perspective? ya, alot of them arent gonna make it. so? what has it cost them? time spent playing a game? a couple hundred bucks? the horror! most people spend time and money on their hobbys, most hobbys have far less potential for a future than even the 1 in a million chance at being the next nada.

I am sure that most of them enjoy what they do and I haven't yet seen a progamer that has retired and done nothing regret being a progamer in the first place.

I know there are thousands upon thousands of high school, college, and semi-pro athletes that don't get scholarships or make much money at all. Probably a MUCH higher % of people that play real sports and "waste" their time than the % of aspiring progamers spending 12+ hours a day in clan houses like these.
I know in the USA there is way too much pressure on kids to go directly to college after finishing high school and finishing in 4 years or feel like a failure. I see no shame spending a year or four having great life experiences or trying to achieve your dreams. I have one more year of college left and am very jealous of what some of my friends did for a year or two after high school instead of going right to school. May be different in Korea though, from what I have heard in asian countries not being completely dedicated to your studies will leave you screwed.

What you gotta realize is even though they might not end up being pro or whatever, you have to see that they care so much about getting good that they'll pay to live in a house and train really hard. On the surface it might seem pathetic, but because of things like this is what makes Koreans really good at things they wanna do.
In the Starcraft sense this is what makes them the best, being almost wreckless in their determination.

Athletes don't train 11 hours a day. It isn't taking up their entire life, so its not comparable at all. Obviously you personally don't like anyone saying its 'sad' or pointless because you are doing it, but really disconnecting yourself from all normal life to play a game every day is pretty pathetic in most peoples eyes, even if there's a very slim chance you could one day get paid to do it.
