After Princeton had a very successful StarCraft tournament back in November, it was decided that the time had come to take on other schools
On February 7th, Princeton will face off against MIT in the first ever inter-collegiate StarCraft match. The format will be a best of five Proleague style:
1v1 Python 1v1 Longinus 2v2 Hunters 1v1 Tau Cross 1v1 Blue Storm
Princeton's roster will feature several TL posters and will be captained by hazelynut.
If your school has some dedicated players and thinks it has what it takes, let me know or visit http://www.cstarleague.com/blog/ for more information (site is under development)
Is there a list of college students that also use TL? Like the "TL Find a Starcraft Buddy in Your Area Thread" but colleges instead. That might inspire some schools to make a team.
I envy you guys, the shops in front of our school just know the game dota....it's sad that there are only 2 shops (out of almost 10) that are frequented by Koreans....
I love the idea. Will it be played online or offline? There are lots of koreans and chinese at my university and I've seen quite a few people playing starcraft in the notebook café :D

Seconded. Sadly, most of the Koreans in my school mostly play MMOs T_T and my net is crappy that my only practice is the BWAI from entropy

Just wondering, what level of starcraft are we talking about her? Is it a for fun match or do we have some heavy hitters?
Auburn's max rank is all D players... unless I can convince the guy that has 200 apm who was B4 on WGTour to come back... i don't know what that translates into as modern iccup rank though.. C-?? something like that

Speaking of which, that's exactly what I'm doing right now lol. Should be in classical mechanics. Instead, i'm doing shit on my own haha. And being on TL. Woot!!
Just throwing it out there, at Yale I know a few people around D+/C-/C level. If you guys actually manage to formalize this, especially in the wake of SC2, I'll be impressed. Though I feel like the quality of games will disappoint, it'll be fun nonetheless.
As Ancestral mentioned, OSU has some good representatives. This collegiate SC thing sounds like a great idea, and I (and surely we) definitely want in on this.

Agreed, Go Bucks! This sounds fun. I'd definitely start practicing some more for something like this.
EDIT: and any Ohio State lurkers that might read this should PM Ancestral and alert us of your presence. He's the most organized out of us (usually organizing the gatherings). There really aren't that many of us, and the more the merrier.
Do you guys think we should have a thread for college SC teams and the list of players? I know there's one for the UC's but it could be more organized that way if we included the other colleges around that TL users go to.

Lol, I'd be happy to rape you repeatedly ...*ahem* practice

I'm sure that ace player NIGHTMARJOO could wreak some havoc!
yeah sure, NightmarJoo. He should learn to map first haha :D
Haha, will there be live streams? This... could be a great match, could be completely one sided, or could suck horribly. Just imagine an advertisement to attend Princeton: We beat MIT 3-0!
On a completely unrelated note: "This thread is so full of leeet."
We're organizing live streams, and hopefully we'll actually have camcorders set up so you can get a view of the players looking intense, high-fiving down the line, or doing ceremonies. It'll probably be up on ustream or mogulus.

His maps are pretty fun. Maybe the Korean pro scene will not use them, but I'm guessing you haven't played on many.
He's also better than all of us (at Ohio State University) at StarCraft, don't hate.

iirc princeton's network bandwidth was 200-250kb/s from dormnet, and about 1mb/s from the campus network (library, Frist, academic buildings, etc).
Is that enough to support a stream? (I guess you guys would know better)

Yeah and if they are using ustream or mogulus it wont matter too much

Yes! I know at Ohio State we have already committed to play, and the organizer of this whole thing seems to be adequately ambitious on the matter. I'm the worst player currently on our "team" at OSU, but I've actually started learning to play StarCraft for this!
Even if it isn't epically organized with huge spnosors, a collegiate league is going to be epic anyway.
If you check on the page linked in the op, several other schools have also agreed to be in it. I have high hopes for the awesomeness

please tell me that is from your work and not your apartment, or else I will have to move there.

i'm pretty sure both mit and princeton teams are in that range
lol M.I.T will win because of sugo, not that hes very good its just I don't know anyone else from princeton so I'm assuming hell win. he never shuts the fuck up about transfering to m.i.t but i guess this will be something more to brag about in his sad little life lol

If we get enough teams at a certain point, we'll probably have separate divisions. It's kind of unfair to let people become the Air Force ACE of CSL, but it's also unfair to cap teams that have genuinely good players.
But as far as I know, everyone who's been contacting me has a team of D/D+'s. The best player that I know of is probably a C- on MIT's team.

OH SHIT WHAT THE FUCK SUGO GOES TO MIT???
NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I still remember when Sugo Cancer Boy beat Cloud> That was one of the best days of my life
And how is the best a C- when Sugo beat cloud? Unless he's not on the team... that makes me sad ;_; Sugo is somewher up in C+(or higher) right?
The commentary might not be stellar, but hopefully our love for SC will shine through even if we make technical mistakes. Similarly, the games might not be that great, but we'll be making fun of ourselves the whole way. Please join us as we make e-sports history!
Tune in 8:30pm EST, February 7. We might not start right away, but we'll try to keep everyone entertained.

Princeton 2-3 MIT
I'd say Set 4 was the most entertaining (it was supposed to be ACE, but then one of our players had to leave and things got screwed up). Replays will be up at some point, and MIT also has commentated VODs that'll be uploaded later on.
