for a long long long LONG LONG long time its been my dream to go to korea for starcraft. i always practiced thinking that if i went over it would be as a progamer. funny how things turn out. i got invited over by IEG (the company that owns eSTRO) to do some commentating for their english language website (www.scforall.com) after they saw some of my commentary on TSL/Ascension.
i'll be flying back to the US on october 1st (wcg usa w00t), but i hope to turn this opportunity into some kind of career in esports while i'm over here so that i can come right back.
but wow its literally a dream come true. i just got here wednesday night, and korea is already so awesome. the culture is so different from usa. EVERYONE needs to visit korea at least once before they die. i dont think ive stopped smiling since i landed. my face is starting to hurt.
oh btw they did a video interview of me. i hope to god that all the akward embarassing parts got edited out rofl.

With IEG/Estro boycotting the last Gomtv SL I wonder if we will actually see a Tasteless & Artosis duo. Maybe kespa and gomtv have worked stuff out. Maybe they will allow it.
But if not Artosis, who is the person Tasteless mentioned they are trying to ? It could still be some random Korean with native level English?

-Cohesion, Artosis works great with lots of commentators like Gentho, Chill, etc.
-Strategical Analysis, his experience in the game helps him see in depth and past what is on the screen.
-Excitement, gets excited on major events, but not faked excitement, which grasps the viewer's attention and causes the experience for the viewer to intensify.
-Good voice, it is not harmful to the ear.
-Experience, the TSL and Ascension have given Artosis much commentating experience.
In other words, Artosis is definitely set for success in Korea!

I used to kind of defend Moletrap and stuff. Sure they are noob but they are working hard, etc. But recently he completely misread the whole game which was just annoying the hell out of me and resulted into him bashing one player.
But none of these youtube guys ever claimed they wanted to go to Korea so I think bashing them on that is still not really justified.
Artosis is better than Tasteless imo. He doesn't yell and he gives the best insight into the game. Tasteless often tells about interesting tricks and basic strategy. But Artosis does more in depth strategy like timings, etc.

You (imo) deserve it. If I was you I would try Caster/Journalist.... If you can get contacts at different teams houses you could arrange english interviews (translator of course) and english behind the korean scene type stuff. The journalist thing is just a side note that I've always wanted to have and never got ( but so was GOOD english casting).

Congratulations! The first time I heard Artosis cast was in the TSL game involving the line "Probes don't go to heaven." I can't remember off the top of my head which game it was, but I've been a fan ever since.

I don't understand this. BW is really in its peak of popularity. Blizzard has never released a game on time and it's not unusual for them to delay a game a full year after the intial release date is announced. The release date for SC2 hasn't even been announced yet, so I can't imagine SC2 is any closer than 16-18 months.

IEG are doing their Buisness. They have got the broadcasting rights for the korean SC leagues and they seek any income they could get. It is a fact that the worldwide Broodwar Community is growing atm because of SC2. Why not give them a chance. Gom TV was a success and obviously they want to involve the non koreans more in Korea. If we have ProGamers from different Nations not only the Broodwar Community wants to see them play. If they place foreign progamers in every team (what is a goal of them) and broadcast the proleague and MSL in English many people will view it. (Ya I think at least the PL after the next PL will be also broadcasted in english). And there is another positive effect. I think the koreans would enjoy foreign pro gamers. It would give SC a boost in Korea, maybe more koreans would view the games and that is the main goal of the organisation that holds the broadcast rights. So you see it can be a good plan on the long run to invest in the foreign community for IEG. Before I finish regarding SC2: The big worldwide SC2 Community would also watch a fameous foreign SC1 pro-gamer competing in Korea, at least if its one of their country.

+ Show Spoiler +maybe i'm just greedy. but things are going so well in BW right now it seems, they are finally paying attention to north america and bringing in foreign commentators and players. i agree BW is probably in it's peak right now. and that's why everything just feels right. it just seems like things are going so well in BW that i don't want to add the destabilizing factor in 16 months when SC2 comes out. maybe i'm being paranoid but it just seems like everything is going so well and going in the right direction and i'd be happy to see BW continue like this for 5 years uninterrupted. i didn't want to make a 2nd post on this because this thread should be about the good things that are happening, and i think it's great that artosis is "to korea" and exciting that there are plans to bring more foreigners over to play. i just wish it could go on like this forever
EDIT: i'm going to spoiler that, i feel like my first post was sufficient and that hammering away on the issue will just spoil the party. 'tis a time for celebration, not somber reflection.

I think theres very few foreigners that will actually benefit from going to Korea and im not sure they are interested. Mondragon and Dreiven I personally think would benefit most from it and maybe a younger talent such as JF who still has time on his side

Mondragon has stated many times though that he wouldn't go. Such a shame, a few years ago I'm sure he would have gone, given the oppertunity.
So, JF, White-Ra, Strelok and a couple of Chinese players imo, if there is going to be multiple foreigners.

i don't see the point in tasteless and artosis dual commentating
they should commentate on their respective leagues
so we can just get MORE english speaking coverage of sc:bw
don't concentrate the forces on one thing, but spread them ^^
and i like klazart and other sc2gg.com commentators too,
but their voices don't seem that much presentable to a broader audience
(sry guys )
