If mmr is too high/low compare to player, they will quit game immediately.
Just hide mmr of people like season 1 in 2017.
For me, I lost so much games to higher mmr players because of their mmr, it's not skill. We can not play well when we have to face to better players, it's not fair.

You d lose the same if the MMR was hidden? Or are you saying you leave anytime you face a higher MMR? If so you re essentially smurfing, that's stupid.
Ladder is competitive, it s not meant to be fair. It s meant to give you an opponent quickly "within your range". Now because there are few players and the range + geographical limitations + the instant you search vs when other people search + the map vetoes you likely match +/-200MMR 95% of the time and the other 5% could be wild (very wild sometimes).
You can't play better when you face better players? That seems wrong. But if you genuinely cant it means you can't improve and so you shouldn't ladder. Play custom games instead, it s a fine and fun way to play. You can even make friends more easily and even practice together in a more controlled/fair way that any ladder system could ever give you.
PS: i m gonna need to see some data to back up your 51% claim
I actually like the idea of not showing mmr at the beginning. With that you won't go into the game with a preconception of "this guy is way better than me I have no chance" or "this guy sucks it's a waste of time" or "I hate this guy he's an unranked smurf", which will likely affect your decision making in the game. It will also prevent a portion of instant leavers.
Then at the end of the game the mmr is displayed so you can know you just beat an S rank or lose to a B rank player.
I never leave all my games. How I play to +/- 500 mmr to me in the same way. So I respect to everyone include normal, smurf, cheat, hack, bm players
I never veto any maps. So I respect map makers and map is one of the great things I like in the game.
But I am unconfident when I have to face to better players. It's just no chance for me even I do anything I can.
Do you know why FlaSh took so much champion titles? Because he always uses his nickname (FlaSh) at all tournament/league. How about if FlaSh and his opponents use be unnamed to compete? RuBy used to quit immediately while countdown a game in the match he vs FlaSh (Proleague).
51% is a number that I guess, if you have an account with 1550 mmr, you will guess a bigger number.
Finally, using a hand to hide mmr at coutdowning is so dumb actually.
Do we have a teamliquid BW discord? would love to use it to matchmake with folks in NA for better ping (and avoid people dropping out immediately etc), not really caring about ladder ranking points.
I would be in favor of having a 'zen' mode like in lichess to hide rank and MMR. But at this point we are lucky if the map pool gets updated regularly. Still, you will have a lot of quitters because of lag, and mirror matchups. And you can't do anything about smurfs.
In the video there's the older version of it, which I miss, because you would have an interface for messaging everyone in a really easy way. I don't know why they removed it.

Ok then it is my bad i didnt understand the first time. So yes based on that, hiding MMR would be fine if toggable. Probably would have little impact on leavers but at least psychologically it could help you. It can display at the end instead. Isn't it what sc2 does? (No idea). A launcher feature for it would be neat and probably your best bet.
No idea what you're trying to say with Flash though ^^
I think there’s a gap between what I think people should do and what they actually do.
I think folks should give it their shot and play out games as best they can and not have it affect their game.
If it does, and makes the ladder experience worse well, suppose we gotta deal with that. I don’t even know if this a particular issue to be fair.
Like I think it’s pretty daft that in many modern games I play more and more and more information is being taken away to try to mitigate ‘ladder anxiety’ or its equivalents.
But if it’s the best solution versus people insta-leaving games, or not laddering at all or whatever, well I suppose I just gotta suck that up.

Very well said.
This is basically the mentality I adopted from watching Dewalt's stream. I once exclaimed in chat "Wow, Dewalt vs. Light! Imagine playing vs. Light...I would be terrified!"
