Zerg doesn't need buff on this map. It's semi-island and on each "island" you have 3 gas already. In fact Zerg doesn't even need to produce lings early to defend rush, and gets first scout as well.

But overall maps like this are usually added by Afreeca to swing balance in a certain direction, not to have perfectly balanced maps.
Yeah, doesn't surprise me at all, given on this map only Protoss can't go Nexus first, but at the same time can't pressure with zealots either. By the time they get their first scout (by Corsair btw) they'd probably be behind in BO anyway, or about to die from a timing rush.
Are there really 9 maps in the pool for ASL this season, or am I misunderstanding the link? Nine maps seems like an awful lot. I'm really interested to see how Odyssey plays out though.
Great to see that ASL will be back soon. As for Rain, not too surprising imo. I think he expected to win the last ASL, but to lose 0-4 to Light in this fashion must've certainly been bad for him. To top it off, if his wrists are also bad, then it's best to stop playing until they heal at least.
My dose finally getting dilevered, If it's ASL I don't care if I'm having bad day or it's end of the world - I'm gonna watch it 100%! Pity FlaSh and Rain aren't in. Maps are bizarre but we haven't had such wild mappool since S5 so looking forward how Light will deal with new maps, if he thinks he's better like FlaSh he must have answer for everything.

Just poking my head back into SC/SC2 recently, do we know what's going on with FlaSh? Like when does his service end and does he intend to compete when it's over?
Interesting they bringing back such an old map like Neo Arkanoid, old-schoolers like Light, Bisu and BeSt played official games on it back in the day gonna be exciting to see how things have changed.
What is the score between Mihu and Stork? I see Xiaoshuai lost 1-2 to Royal, that's nice to take a game. Also Dewalt beat 815 to 2-0! (then lost to Hyun)
To be honest I don't see him beating Sharp in TvT. It is possible he beats Hm, but he needed to face Horang2 in the finals to have a real chance in my opinion. Good luck to him though!

I've seen a bunch of upsets earlier in the brackets. Stork losing to Mihu for example. YSC losing to an amateur I don't even know of.

Stork is probably out of shape. YSC is not that strong anyway. But we have our first real upset now since Royal lost to Leta.

We have a Zerg debutant born in 1996 (even younger than Soma) this season. He comes from one of the BW universities and also won the ACS. Maybe this is the new blood we were all talking about.

Sparring with Light does the trick. This seison will be "The destruction of Aiur". Only 5 protoss on the next round where most of the maps are pvz graveyards. Ro16 where Bisu is only toss remaining seems possible...
who is 김대한 ? He's seed 20 in group 12 and beat Killer in his second round. He made it to semi-final where he lost to Hiya. Stork lost to Yoon. He's out!

Yeah but it has always been that 5 Protosses that matter for the race for a few years now. The rest are just there to make up the number. But I don't think there will only be Bisu for R16. Even if some maps are hard for PvZ, the ones chosen for R24 may be balanced.
maybe 8 + 8 + 8 would be better than 12 + 12.. three chances instead of two.. (especially if it's all online?) well, congratz to the qualified players anyway.
Round of 24 matches 1 and 2 will be played with (2) Butter
In the winner's and loser's match, each player plays one ban out of (2) Odyssey, (4) Allegro, and (4) Neo-Alkanoid, and proceeds with one remaining map.
In the final match, (3) Neosylphide, (4) Nemesis, and (4) Vermeer SE, each player plays one ban, and the remaining map is played.

I miss the old Kespa days where he was sometimes first , sometimes second
Anyway, WE HAVE THIS!! Maybe Snow will get first place in the group but JD will take 2nd
Also, I don't know who are Inguh and JjabNewDa
Do you mean early post-kespa days with Sonic starleagues? I dont remember killer being tier1 or 2 player during kespa era. Can I trust my memory anymore?

Why? This is easy win for Snow.
His PvZ is shaky. He'll beat Hiya no doubt, but then has every chance to lose to JD, and then lose to one of Shine's tricky builds.
Queen and Soulkey are not easy either. The 4 Terrans in their groups are so dangerous, they are literally the strongest among tier 2 and 3 players.
pvz meta shifting to reaver builds. What i see Snow benefits most. See KCM Finals game with Shine. JD not looking good against top p. Snow>Hiya JD>Shine Snow>JD

Group A: Mini // Best Group B: Hero // Shuttle Group C: Queen // Royal Group D: SK // JYJ Group E: Snow // JD Group F: Rush // Free

Yeah, this was basically my reasoning. A Bo1/3 vs unpredictable Zergs is bad news for Snow. It's his worst matchup by far--I mean, he lost to Ggaemo last season. I'm always rooting for Snow, it's just not the smoothest way to start things out.
.Will you also be casting for ASL14? Nyoken: Yes I should be casting ASL with Scan again in the next few weeks. Looking forward to the games and the return of some old crazy maps like Arkanoid. In the past I would have not been happy to see a weird map like Arkanoid but Terran players (Light in particular) have pulled out wins with wraith + marine medic play even versus Protoss so I'm looking forward to see some weird strategies.

Alternatively, here is a link where anyone can go look up the actual stats on the maps, instead of relying on asinine opinions based on strange mental gymnastics.
From Bisus stream during KCM finals: Butter 2.0 change at natural expansion makes 9 pool speed incredibly hard to block for toss. Odyssey is just a zerg map... I agree for nemesis being good for zerg, lurker drops and contains look so deadly against protoss and tarran has hard time preventing 4 gas zerg. But Arkanoid and Sylphid depend heavily on starting spawns related to balance. It actually seems to be okay for tarran if you get horizontal spawn against z or t. Cross is obviliously nasty in tvp (Carrierprinter brrr) but othervise even zvt is not too bad. For some reason JD and Soulkey seem to prefer hydralurk in Araknoid instead of ultraling.
Nemesis is not good for Zerg. Aside from the main and nat, the map has only 4 other expansions which can be confined by the double geyser. Zergs don't want to put their hatches there, which leads to them always having to take the 3rd base on the other side of the map, which is kinda uncomfortable for some players.
Neo Arkanoid is not good for Protoss. On this map you can't scout with workers, and because Protoss build order diverges the most among the 3 races (very different tech trees), the chance for them to choose the wrong build without ever having a chance to correct it on time is highest. It's similar to the way that Protoss is the least advantageous when dealing with random.
Odyssey I'm not sure. Seems like the most normal map among the new ones.
One question: why is action not playing?? He hasn't qualify or choose not to play at all ? (like rain or effort)..... He is playing now vs Snow and absolutely crushes him.
