like it would seem to me this kind of thing, new account that pings 10 billion times should be trivially detectable by them, but maybe they dont give a shit idk yes, I make report everytime, but they never seem to follow up on anything, their reply essentially being "well you banned him from your discord so you re good now"
yeah i mean a thread on their support forum asking for help, together with people from several servers. since it seems to affect at least 10 servers

This is actually true. Its the discord admins problem if he keeps letting in the same dude over and over again.

You must not know how spamming works… The spam is from a new account every time.

What if it isn't him? What if he created an actual artificial intelligence and it went mad? Experiment gone wrong and now its out of control.

He's been spamming now for 6 hours via a new account on the FBW discord. It constantly changes what it's spamming so I don't think it's a bot. i think it's actually him.

Is not him, stop bullying Moataz you BASTARDS!

And you are saying admins cant control new accounts?
Ive already given my feedback on what to do against this issue. It isnt that difficult to fix, its just that they dont wanna do it.
They want to keep the discord fully open for anyone to join and chat, even though this could always be a problem if you let in the right idiot who can abuse it to the max, which is exactly what ure seeing right now.
1. Manually add ppl to the discord that shows proof of an account existing on TLnet that isnt created yesterday and have some posts already.
This should shutdown the most bots because it requires dedication to setup and its too obvious if its a bot doing it because the posts will be just random messages.
2. Add a mute period once joined the discord. Followed by a necessary answer to a question to show its not a bot.
This makes bots highly inefficient if they cant spam right away after joining a discord and the bot maker having to manually work for the bots instead of the other way around.
Most programmers will just give up once you make it difficult enough for bots to be fully automated.

Bunch of people have received those dms, and pretty much all of them addressed to the wrong person. Mine was addressed to Scan. Hey, I think that's an upgrade, does that mean I can claim I was in ASL?

Hey guys, if anyone is having trouble with Moataz and his bots, one of our SEN members has developed a counter-bot called Star Defender that at this point is 95%+ effective at blocking him. When he updates or makes a change, we do as well, and continuous improvements are made. We've gotten to the point where we can detect him prior to any spam happening, as well as tracing the genesis of the link his bot user joined on.
Its a free / open source tool but for reasons of staying ahead of the spammers only trusted folk are added to the GitHub.
You can talk to the creator on discord to get access to Defender: TheNitesWhoSay#2110
You can join the SEN Discord if you need assistance setting it up.
For anyone who doesn't know me, I am Excalibur, global staff on SEN, known on BWMN for years, contributor to NHFFA, and I've been in the UMS/Modding/Large Melee map biz for over 20 years. Freakling, Ox, Minerals, Greth, and others will vouch for me as a trusted dude and my contributions if need be.
Nites is a talented dev in the SEN community, has all of my confidence, and I vouch for Star Defender as a project which is currently implemented on discords for SEN, NHFFA, BWMN, The Engineering Bay, Titan Reactor, SSCAIT, Terran Academy, CPL, as well as many other UMS/AI/Modding communities.
We're proud of this tool and offer our assistance to any SC discord that needs it.

I can indeed vouch for this. I invited Star Defender on NHFFA on 20/07/2022 and it has already blocked M twice (on 25/07 and 28/07).
Installation was quick and easy, and with some help from TheNitesWhoSay#2110 was able to work on a 2FA activated server.
All you need is an arrivals channel for Star Defender to monitor new people joining.

Excalibur is also a known quantity, consistently hounding the NHFFA community each time we don't use one of his maps. They are the product of a mind that could only find kinship in the twisted garden of mongrels that is NHFFA.

You can make it 100% effective by detecting the first spam message, ban the user, remove the message. There would be no way around this.
How did you solve the problem of banning the user before messages are sent? Is there a unique identifier or is the spammer bot that dumb that it joins with name "nuclear launch detected"? :D
Edit: Saw you mentioned the link but this cant really be a safe method. Banned any innocent folks yet?
Detecting dubious name changes maybe is an option too.

Banned any innocent folks yet? Detecting dubious name changes maybe is an option too. The detect/ban/delete is already all working, but as not-the-guy-who-made-the-bot, I wouldn't want to speak as if I understand from a technical standpoint how it functions. 95%+ was a guesstimate to be fair to edge cases, but every server Defender is on has reported it working and catching problems before they start. Still, knowing technology, I don't like to claim 100% efficacy especially when both sides are free to make updates/changes daily.
In my layman's understanding, we have several types of detection involving user details, behavior, and messaging. (Edited at Nite's request.) Anything further would have to come from Nites rather than myself, and are not details I'd want to discuss in public view for obvious reasons. This is part of why the GitHub is not fully public as well.
We have had maybe one instance of a false-positive on SEN that I know of in the months we've been running Defender, and that was solved/patched same-day.
We also support Cross-Banning so once one Defender server detects a harmful user, that ban is propagated across all Defenders.
Its my opinion that Defender is the best way forward for anyone getting these targeted attacks.
