Anyone else checking out this thread, please consider pitching in a few bucks. Bonyth and Dewalt represent the cutting edge of the foreign scene. They represent our community and carry its flag with honor and respect.
They are touted as the best of the best outside Korea. Let's see them prove it in a one-on-one against each other with up to 25 live consecutive games!
Help me make the biggest and longest foreign showmatch ever, happen.
We got a Rus_Brain monetary bet challenge related to this event.
Rus_Brain bets Dewalt will accumulate the most single game wins against Bonyth and welcomes any amount of monetary bet on Bonyth. Deadline to declare your bet in this thread is 24 hours prior to the first game of Battle for Aiur 2. In other words, deadline = Friday, Sep 03 2:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00)
Those are just the first maps being played on my friend. The first five games are sponsored by Trovo.live ($200) which purhcases five games. Hence those five maps. In other words, there will be no repeat maps, so if there's 15 games, there will be 15 different maps, etc.
For the first Battle for Aiur event, we used three new maps in a 9-game preplayed showmatch. We promised if highest stretch goal was met, then we would make next showmatch live and include at least 9 standard maps. So we will include at least 9 standard/comfortable maps for first 9 games, and then include other maps, including 1-2 island ones.
A deep note of gratitude to PurePat for donating $501 He really wants to punish Bonyth and Dewalt with more games (and overtake CRVT as biggest donator).
Thanks everyone else who pitched in so far, including Madinho (so he could write "terran rules"), it means a lot to the players.
Bonyth and Dewalt didn't think donations would reach this high, and they certainly didn't think $2200 is possible, that's why they agreed to this format, upon my insistence. I hope we continue to prove them wrong.

How can I bet against Rus_Brain € 50 in favor of Bonyth?

Rus Brain will accept multiple bets from multiple people up to $1,000 USD total.
All you have to do is clearly state in this thread that you are betting on Bonyth to win the showmatch in the amount of [enter dollar/Euro value] and confirm that it is part of your acceptance of Rus_Brain's challenge.

I have a special announcement folks, Koget is accepting Rus_Brain's challenge and has put up a stack of cash in the amount of $500.00 USD on the gambling table, in favour of Bonyth.
He didn't want to seem like he's "flexing" by posting this information here. However, all bets need to be confirmed inside this thread so I am declaring this bet for Koget after obtaining his explicit permission.
I don't like to impose any maps on players in any of my events my friend. Unless it's a map test showmatch or tournament but even in that case players are welcome to not participate. I have a discussion with players about the map pool and make sure they accept and are comfortable with most if not all maps selected. Maps are important to players in many ways. Players have to be familiar with the maps in order to be able to adapt to them and perform well on them, especially when reputations and money are on the line. The quality of a game depends sometimes on the map as well. Short and wonky games are more likely to happen on maps players are not comfortable with or outright dislike.
Also players should always have a say in how events are organized and ran. Generally speaking, catering to players, financially supporting them and showcasing their skills via live broadcasts and VODs have always outweighed other considerations for me.
I asked the individuals who donated substantial amounts of money whether they were keen on any particular maps being included in the map pool. They did not have any recommendations (PurePat and CRVT actually prefer standard maps!). I will ask anyone else the same question if they were to donate enough money to the event

Please believe, this will be the greatest foreign showmatch of all time! The equivalent of Ali and Frazier in Manila.
Let's get that prize to $2200 and make history baby.
You should add maps like Andromeda, Electric Circuit, Medusa or Heartbeat to the pool, for some more interesting expansion options in PvP. Even God's Garden, Crossing Fields or Ringing Bloom could add some variety.
Thanks for the suggestions Freakling and M3t4PhYzX. I will mention them to Bonyth and Dewalt as potential maps to include in the pool. Ultimately, it's up to them.

At least 19 live consecutive games have been "purchased" and must be played during the scheduled event.
Up to 25 games are possible so please consider pitching in a few bucks to help us achieve the final stretch goal! This historic battle will be a celebration of the game that we all love and dedicated to the wonderful array of community members who have kept it alive after all these years.
That brings the total prize to $2100+, which means Bonyth and Dewalt must play at least 23 live consecutive games
Another $100 and we will reach our unbelievable, epoch making stretch goal of 25 live games which will signal to Bonyth and Dewalt that we want them to of exhaustion for our pleasure
Jokes aside, our special event is dedicated to CRVT and PurePat, the two most generous and community oriented individuals, who have financially supported countless of events out of the goodness of their hearts and love for the game and the foreign scene. Please consider thanking them if you watch the event because they are the ones responsible for making it a real marathon series.
Woah, that's a lot of games to be played. I could play at least 5 TvT games during similar time to that duel. GL for both players, they gonna need it to survive. May the more durable player win.
Thanks to everyone who tuned in! I'll upload VOD soon for anyone interested.
For those who made a bet (names copied below), could you please message me on TL or discord (#7362) to arrange payment (either you owe Rus_Brain money or he owes you money -- I say this so as to avoid spoiling the result for you in case you have not watched the match yet as well as others viewing this thread who have not seen the games yet. Please finish watching the match and know the final result before you contact me so nothing is spoiled for you in case that's important).
We're sponsored by Trovo.live and they added $175 to the prize pool of this event to broadcast it on their platform. They have also sponsored many other events for us, supporting foreign/Korean BW players. As you know, money speaks louder than words.
Rus_Brain has paid all individuals who accepted his challenge and bet on Bonyth. Thanks for participating everyone.
The YouTube VOD is still "processing HD" (which is an issue on YouTube for content uploaders, especially on weekends, in case anyone didn't know, even when you try various "fixes" like reupload the video, send feedback to support team, edit something in upload, etc.). Will post VOD here when it is ready. Sorry for the delay.
I hope the score screen graphic, with the players' faces morphed + khala electricity line + khala quote, didn't go over some people's heads ;-) For Aiur! We are One!
Shout out to the very talented designer Depleted for creating the event's eye candy
