2021 Star BJ Destruction Season 1 set to start June 15

AfreecaTV's BJ Destruction series returns with its first event of the 2021 season. Set to start on the 15th of June, the competition will see Brood War's most popular streamers duke it out for a prize purse of KRW 9m (+ crowdfunding proceeds) in an 8-team single elimination bracket (all matches best-of-7) sprawling two weeks' worth of broadcasts. Teams will once again comprise six players of various tiers - 2 Kings, 1 Jack, 2 Queens, 1 Joker.
The format, however, has already met with criticism on sundry Korean forums, as the tournament will see the return of Fastest as one of the opening games of each series. All matches will similarly feature a 2v2 micro/macro within the first 4 sets, and a regular 2v2 as set #5.
UPDATE: Due to community backlash, Fastest has been removed in favour of a more balanced lineup of maps.

Wildcard Match (if more than 8 teams sign up): 15/06
Group selection: 16/06, 1800KST (offline, no audience)
Ro8 #1: 19/06, 1900KST
Ro8 #2: 20/06, 1900KST
Ro8 #3: 22/06, 1900KST
Ro8 #4: 23/06, 1900KST
Ro4 #1: 25/06, 1900KST
Ro4 #2: 26/06, 1900KST
Final: 30/06, 1800KST (offline, no audience)

#1 - 1v1 Melee (King) Ro8: Eclipse, Ro4 + Final: Ringing Bloom
#2 - 2v2 Micro/Macro (2x Queen) Ro8: Benzene, Ro4 + Final: Optimizer
#3 - 1v1 Melee (Jack) Ro8: Neo Sylphid, Ro4 + Final: Ascension
#4 - 1v1 Melee (Joker) Fighting Spirit
#5 - 2v2 Melee (King + Queen) Iron Curtain / Vampire / Usan Nation
#6 - 1v1 Melee (King) Ro8: Ringing Bloom, Ro4 + Final: Eclipse
#7 - 1v1 Melee (ACE) Polypoid
1st place: KRW 6m + 70% crowdfunding proceeds
2nd place: KRW 3m + 30% crowdfunding proceeds

2vs2 is also favoured for Zerg matchups... Didnt stop you from playing it... Either way Fatess is one of the most popular, if not the most popular map/Typ for newcommers/casualls... Just like Protoss, so it goes well together. And didnt they go around this problem by forcing all races to be played... In the first AStL.
If they got rid of it again, it is a TRAGEDY!!!

Most of the Korean pros are streaming it anyway.
Personally I'm looking forward to the team melee games. Interesting to see what they can do given the extra apm.
Saw a team melee game between Bisu/Best vs Light/Rush a while ago and the Protoss team absolutely smashed it. Seems like Protoss has another level in them if their army can be babysitted that way.
Oops looks like the team melee games are only for queens, boooo!!!
