Predictions:
Group A: Shuttle 2-0 Stork 2-1 Shuttle is a PvP specialist. I will root for Stork, but I could see Shuttle winning even in back in the Kespa days. Shuttle is 3-1 in the Kespa era against Stork. Light is notorious for weak TvP so Storks should prevail, and Guemchi is a wildcard so he could beat anyone but I gotta go for my boy Stork to make it out.
Group B: Mind 2-0, Jaedong 2-1 Mind is in top form right now and I don't see anyone in this group beating him. It's sort of a tossup for the other 3, but I'm going with Jaedong because TBLS. I think Sharp could easily advance too but I gotta root for the main 4.
Group C: Bisu 2-0, Hero 2-1 Bisu will edge out Hero, but the top 3 players in this group are all very strong so even Last could make it. Still, Hero will advance for the swarm.
Group D: Flash 2-0, Rain 2-1 Movie needs his PvZ, so I can't see him win against Rain. While Rain is somewhat new in his return to BW, his game against Effort proved he is back. Never bet against Flash.

Group selections were hilarious. Group D - group of death!

I got no sound at my computer these days, can someone who watched the group selections with sound tell me, why sharp took mind as his first opponent? Did he comment that in any way? There would have been lots of weaker players than Mind imo...
btw Sea got to advance please... His courage to pick Flash got to get rewarded!

I've never actually watched BroodWar as I pretty much came to SC just a few weeks before release of Wings of Liberty, so I've watched SC2 matches only, but this time I spared some of my free time and watched the Ro24 of this ASL and I must admit that it did impress me. High quality of games, great commentating (with some on point explanations for us, BroodWar noobs) and such an intense atmosphere all around! Looking forward for this Ro16, especially if legends can make it into the playoffs. Will root for Bisu, that guy seems so cool inside and outside of the game!

He might actually be the worst player in the Ro16 currently though I don't know how good people like Guemchi really are and if they 'lucked' through or if they are actually really strong players

Welcome! I'm sure you won't regret it. In the meantime you can watch the previous ASL as well as OSL/MSL to gain a better understanding of the game and players.

Your prediction is like the exact opposite of what most other peoples think How come?

No, Stork insists he had about 3 weeks of practice. He's a natural. You know, too busy playing WoW and watching anime to practice but makes SL finals kinda of guy. Hopefully he's training hardcore now though, since the competition is now pretty fierce.

Sharp started by saying he wanted to play vs. a Terran for that match. The commentators interrupt him, and suggest "Flash" as the Terran player. Sharp declines.
Out of the available players, I would have expected him to choose Mind or Light, with Light being arguably even weaker, although Sharp already defeated Mind in a series in the last Starleague. Theoretically Sharp may have a relatively equal chance against Mind or Light, however, Mind is probably much stronger than Light when facing strong Zerg and Protoss opponents, and because strong Zerg and Protoss opponents are both more likely to be selected last, and Sharp is perhaps less likely to be favored in either of those matches (as opposed to vs. Mind), selecting Mind might actually increase Sharp's chances of advancing - even if Mind is stronger than Light overall, and stronger specifically vs. Sharp (although I have no idea if this was actually part of his thought process).
It's interesting that Sea told Flash to pick Movie instead of Light. Light is very unlikely to effectively cheese, and is even less likely to win a TvT macro game (particularly against Flash) - while Movie on the other hand could quite conceivably take a game off of any Terran with one of his aggressive early/mid game builds.
Of course, Sea's general decision making at the selection ceremony seemed extremely questionable, so it's possible there were ulterior motives regarding one or more of his decisions anyways.

Just one group played per week?? This is not enough!
