Would be a good start - but I figure there would be a lot of people who would be willing to pay $5 / month (or use a twitch prime) to harass one of the best current players in BW, especially if they know that it hurts him. | ||

I guess that where success goes, haters will always follow... or maybe some people are bitter over his sc2 transition or his lack of success there, or his difficulty in getting back to top form, idk. | ||

But yeah, i think he could find enough dedicated mods to make a difference at least. It would probably prevent him from seeing as much of the negative comments, even though it won't prevent it completely. I imagine that it's not just one comment here or there that hurts a streamer, it's the buildup over time. Everyone is different with how they handle that kind of thing though, we should just respect JDs wishes on the matter and hope we still get to see him play in tournaments. | ||

I'm Korean so I don't know outside of East Asia, so i won't comment on cultures I don't know) is very shame-based. It comes from the country being a very communal culture where saving face and reputations is something super important to everyone involved. The fact that in Japan people would die by seppuku (killing themselves) rather than die at the hands of an enemy (if they knew the enemy had a reputation for mutilating their captors) is very telling that society is very interconnected and reputations are worth dying for. Also if someone had something shameful in the community, they would commit seppuku (and kill other family members that had shamed the family). It's very very different from the individualistic societies of the western world, but it makes sense if you understand this about koreans and streaming. You might call it overly sensitive; they might call you overly insensitive. You might call it stupid; they might tell you that it's stupid to live only for yourself and not care about the legacy/bigger picture and impact you have in the rest of the world. I hope this wasn't too attacking; I just wanted to share a part of my culture and explain what might seem as overly dramatic (as a Korean living in America, I struggle with this balance pretty often as well  ) | ||

I mean Flash has the same problem whenever he loses a game and also considered to just stop BW if I remember the posts in this forum right. It's just... trolls being trolls as sad as it is. Sadly you can't do a lot against it if your career is based on streaming | ||
