Starcraft 2 is infinitely more accessible to casuals and new players than brood war, especially in 2015. I don't thnik BW players are 'uninterested' in SC2 per sé, I think that they prefer BW because of past experiences and they believe it's the better choice of the two. That doesn't necessarily mean that they dislike SC2, it just means they prefer BW more. or maybe they think making a switch to a new game, would be too much work and fatal for their careers (Look at flash for example, he never became the bonjwa he was in BW, he became a good player but not unbeatable, at all.) BW is lesser, in the sense that the game became obsolote, it no longer receives updates and the game itself is not at all appealing to the casual player. appeal is subjective, BW is still aesthetically pleasing to look at even now, nostalgia has very little to do with the fact that people respond well to bright distinct colors and extremely obvious animations and sounds. Starcraft 2 is infinitely more accessible to casuals and new players than brood war, especially in 2015. you repeated what I said, and this can be worked on by the community itself, a community can grow on its own without active developer support if presented correctly. Brood War is the most interesting real time strategy game that exists (If you are a competent RTS player, it only becomes significantly better than other games once a certain skill level is achieved). Therefore it is not obsolete. StarCraft 2 is easier to pick up, yes. But less rewarding once you get good. You are generalizing Brood War players as one homogeneous group. Some of them think that both games are good, some of them think that SC2 is trash. To me, SC2 is a bad game. It is tedious and annoying to play. I base that on 1.5 years of playing it, reaching grand master multiple seasons, winning and losing versus pro gamers, and winning online tournaments with cash prizes. I have a good enough understanding of it to judge it. No amount of extra skill or knowledge can make me enjoy it. I've seen enough. I am definitely uninterested in SC2, and I have no nostalgia for Brood War. When I was a child, I played many games: Command & Conquer, WarCraft 2, WarCraft 3, StarCraft, Total Annihilation, Dawn Of War, and more. But it was StarCraft which, after returning to many years later, I continued playing. Not any of the other ones, which I did invest significant time and effort in to after becoming a serious RTS player rather than a casual one. I used to consider myself a C&C player. I had more nostalgia attached to it and I preferred it, but even I had to admit that Brood War is simply a more elegant and strategically interesting game after I could see both games from the perspective of a decent player.

Holding on to older, lesser versions instead of helping to grow the newer, frequently updated version's playerbase/community, doesn't sound like good news to me. If broodwar was declared dead by blizzard, removing servers etc., the Sc2 community would likely find an explosive growth. We're already lacking behind on LoL, cs:go, dota2, HS etc. Starcraft 2 already had its natural life cycle, and any artificial means to put it on further life support, especially one with such insignificant impact like the move you suggest, would be of little value in the grand scheme of things. I can't speak for other countries, but Starcraft 2 as a gaming title has never been relevant in Korea. And the limitations you speak of to describe Brood War already applies to Starcraft 2 with newer, and more popular games in various genres being played by the upcoming generation. It also doesn't happen to have its own niche following like Brood War does in my nation, so it was a lost cause to begin with here. Just let Brood War in Korea be. Starcraft 2 is too old and unpopular of a game to compete with the likes of LoL, and people like you make it seem like the little niche followers it has is more focused on manifesting their insecurities of their game on threads like this instead of actually enjoying their scene. So go enjoy Starcraft 2 and share your joy with your friends if you love the game so much instead of bringing your inferiority complex to a dead game. Let me enjoy my dead game.

SERIOUSLY! I dont give a damn about growing of your inferior SC2! I dont give a damn its falling behind DOTA, I dont even mind if it fell behind the Sims 2. BW is all I can care. Understand that your inferior game is behind my interest and I wont contribute to it with my support even if BW dies. I was more in WarGame forum in BW dark ages. Since 2012 I watch only few games, after playing single player campaign I uninstalled it and dont want to install again. Players returning to BW, especially Korean players, are the best news I can hope for. Also, the suggestion from your part that I prefer BW becouse of fucking nostalgia is cringe worthy.
