Daily eSports has been with the Sonic Starleague since its first offline season and they continue to provide us with their wonderful coverage. Just take a look at these insightful interviews from Group A in the Round of 32 of the 10th SSL.
The SKT T1 ex-progamer sSak advanced after beating Movie in the first game on Sin Peaks of Baekdu and the amateur force[Name] on Fighting Spirit. sSak said he aims to win the SSL finals in front of the kpop singer IU. How did he prepare for the league and who does he want to slay next?
You are the first player to make it to the round of 16.
I originally wanted to play in group A. I expected to advance second, but I am happy to have advanced first. I thought ZerO would be a difficult opponent to face but he didn't advance to winners' match so it was easy.
Your first game against Movie may have been key. You took it easier than expected.
Movie seemed to lack confidence. He has prepared under strain and I ended up benefiting from his all-in play.
You probably didn't expect force[Name] to advance to the winners' match.
I was sure ZerO would win. He was good at ZvZ as a progamer and he is plays it well on Afreeca, too. I think his nerves cost him the game today. That worked well for me.
Weren't you nervous, facing an unknown opponent?
I was nervous when it came to it but luckily force[Name] was also nervous and couldn't perform to his best.
At which point in the game did you feel like you were taking the winners' match?
I had thought the morphing guardians would stop my advancing troops but then I destroyed the opponent's natural hatchery. When that happened I had thought I had won.
Your performance has improved after you won the SBENU All-Stars Tournament.
To prepare for this starleague, I turned off my stream and practised a lot with Killer and other players.
The most powerful competitor in the league?
Rather than a specific competitor, I would like to avoid Zergs. I want to face a Terran in the round of 16. I don't have anyone specific in mind.
Your goals and resolutions?
I had a long losing streak in Proleague in the Yongsan stadium - T/N: OGN studio for Ro16 onwards- and I don't have a lot of good memories from there. I heard the guest singer for the final stage of this SSL will be IU, so this time I'll do my best to make it into the finals.
Any last words?
I would like to ask the crowds of people that came to see the group selection in Yongsan stadium to also come to Sonic's studio for the round of 32 games and everyone to watch the broadcasts!

The CJ Entus ex-progamer Movie advanced out of the difficult group A despite losing his first match to sSak and having to face ZerO in the losers' match. Coming back from a disadvantage to dispose off force[Name] in the final match, Movie felt luck was on his side. What went wrong?
You just overcame a disadvantage in the final match and advanced to the round of 16.
I think I was really lucky to advance today. Ever since I picked group A I felt uneasy. I don't play well during the day so the competition time didn't suit me either. Somehow I was able to come back and win the game .
Losing to sSak in the first game must have been a big blow.
While preparing for the game, I decided not to use reaver as that got blocked every single time I tried it. But then I found myself making a reaver in the game anyway. Half in doubt and lacking confidence, I lost the game.
Did you expect to face ZerO in the losers' match?
I didn't expect that at all. I prepared for both Zergs specifically as their styles are different. The thought of facing ZerO on Return of the King didn't even cross my mind. I just thought of my practice back in time and used an improvised build order. Winning on that map is difficult for Protoss and having to face ZerO, I just completely emptied my mind and won.
You were at a disadvantage in the final match with force[Name], did you know that?
After I had lost my probe I thought to myself: 'Let's not do this.' but then zerglings got into my base and I knew it wouldn't be an easy game. I aimed to take my last chance before the opponent's hive would finish. I can only say that I was lucky to comeback like this. There really was nothing more to it than that.
Your PvZ abilities didn't seem to have dropped since your progaming days.
I feel much more comfortable playing against Zergs rather than Terrans. I can relax and control the game better.
You did not get into the finals last season. This season you seem to be incredibly well prepared.
I am always concerned when I join a competition. If I am to participate, I'll be aiming for first place. I thought I could do well if I overcome this first hurdle and I just managed to do that. I remember performing well in the OnGameNet Starleague so I think I will feel confident starting from the round of 16 onwards and I should be able to do well.
Final word?
I am participating in two leagues now. Since I overcame the difficulties here, I hope that rather than the group of death, I will be placed in an easy group and I'll aim for the first place there as well. (He is of course talking about Kongdoo Starz League.)
