I just can't understand how you can be so sure that this particular logo won't stand a chance. Especially considering the arguments you provide. Well, the goal is to do our best to win it. I won't kill someone to win this personnally. I love SandLot's concept because it's fun, I won't suicide if TL doesn't win as long as our team put up the best fight it can. - And it you really wanted to win this competition, you may have (choose from the following) : hide the thread to keep it secret up to the last minute (kinda like sclegacy), hire someone to do this, pay blizzard etc. I'm not sure what you meant there Hope your note talking about me *trying desperately* to have my logo selected for TL. I would be happy as long as the community choses the logo it likes the most, being mine or not. I'm just here to have fun.Hmm, how can you be so sure about that? Do you know how the selection will be made? Any idea of the criteria of choice? "Design contest" doesn't mean cleanest / shiniest / most professional looking logo, for me the design is not just about the look but also about the concept. - but, true, Blizzard may not understand the concept of my last logo ![]() Anyway, just my opinion on the matter. JellyCat you do not have to go to extremes to design a logo that has a good chance to win. some of the posts, not yours, have basically said we should take your logo even if it wont win because it represents tl.net. i think that is stupid. the comment about individuality was directed at the people saying we would be chosen instead of the other 7 sites (presumably with flashy professional looking logos) because we're different. when the difference is that theirs looks good and ours doesnt, thats not the case. my assumptions about the judging criteria are just that, assumptions, but that is all anyone has and mine seem far more likely. beyond that a logo is intended to draw attention to whatever it is representing and be memorable, not give you information about what its representing. a logo that describes the site that people ignore is not doing its purpose. a logo that makes people come to the site and THEN find out about it, on the other hand, is.

Second argument is that it looks.... childish. Third is that this... animal (?) is not even a horse! more like dog/goat/pony hybrid or something :S agreed and jellycat read this http://teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?currentpage=1&topic_id=43432 thread

WHOAMG, QUICK, THIS SIMPLE LOGO SHOULD BE ABANDONED FOR SOMETHING WITH FIRE, SKULLS, AND FULL 32-RENDERING. ORIGINALITY AND IDENTIFIABILITY BE DAMNED!!!! WHAT WERE WE THINKING USING THIS STUPID CHECKMARK IN THE FIRST PLACE??!? ![]() I have no point. Really, I don't. edit: The criticism seems well thought out, but how about some specific suggestions? I dunno. =p

You seem so sure on "what should be done to have the winner logo", I think everyone would gladly listen to your tips so that even if you don't feel the "artistic" (if I can say that about the work we've done up to now) ability to do it, may be someone here will. I suppose that when people say this logo should be taken because it looks different, they also think it looks good and that's why the difference is interesting. Obviously, if you don't like the look of it, you won't think the difference will help us and it's your natural right to think so. No argue about it. I do agree that logo are most of the time simplistic(?) shapes so that when you see it you know what it is. I just don't see how 5 shiny professional hydras will help me remember who is who. Still, deadline is not over and this logo is nowhere near the final choice of TL. So there's nothing to worry about in the end. And about me signing my posts, don't know about you, but usually when I send an email to a friend I do sign it eventhough my name or nickname will appear in his / her mail box. And I don't find it odd at all. Seems it doesn't fit TL etiquette (or yours), so, no pb, I won't do it anymore.

I don't want to look aggressive but "wake up man" we're not in this situation. It's a logo for a non professional (no insult) web site for a 5+ years old game for a tournament everyone will have forgot about in a year (at best).

In my opinion of all the logos that have been put forth, Jellycat's represents several things about TL: - International userbase - Unique/silly/fun - Colorscheme I feel the horse thing is secondary as an inside joke, but whatever. @ HungZerg, I think you just have different artistic taste than others. Nobody really knows how Blizzard is going to judge this contest, so while you could be correct that they want a futuristic elaborate logo with lens flares and crazy effects, I don't see how any of the other logos submitted in our logo contest would beat out even just the Reps.ru ones. A less cartoonish, serious logo for TL would just be another logo among the other sites, and I'm pretty sure FiFo's is going to be quite good in that style. In my opinion, Jellycat's logo has a unique style that is representative of this forum's atmosphere and userbase. If you believe otherwise, it IS a competition so submit your own. So far, Jellycat has been very receptive towards criticisms and he's put in some good effort, just looking at how his logo evolved throughout the threads. Keep up the good work.
