I mean.. maybe theres a chance that it will be a new blood transfer into BW in the future, but I wouldn't necessarily count on it. | ||

There's no chance lol. They're all there for money and entertainment. Most of the students are girls anyway and all of them will just drop the game once this college thing cools down. Pro level BW will just die when all the top players right now get old enough. | ||

Not sure BW will die necessarily but it is telling that the top players now are almost all programers in their late 20s early 30s who were around during BW glory years Look at the age distribution among the top pros: 1989 - Bisu, Best, 1990 - Light, Hero, Jaedong, Queen 1991 - Rush, Soulkey 1992 - Flash, Action, Rain, Sharp 1993 - JyJ, Snow 1994 - Mini 1995 - Royal, Soma (Effort and Larva excluded as they don't participate in ASL anymore) While the 1989-1990 group is proving you can still be a top tier player in your 30s (and even win championships), look how the talent pool just plummets starting 1993 and is nonexistent starting 1996 Soma is literally the only amateur to pro BW success story in existence I can't really think of anyone right now (amateur or pro) who is young and seems ready to join the top tier like Royal and Soma have done. Also factor in that Royal and Soma still have to fulfill their military obligations. Protoss in particular are screwed once Best and Bisu get too old - you basically have Mini and Snow left. Rain has complained that playing in ASL hurts his hands so I don't think it's surprising if he never plays in ASL again. I just don't really see YSC (1993) or Ruin (1995) being all that good tbh Even the SC2 pros who are dabbling in BW aren't young either: Dear (1994) Parting (1994) sOs (1993) So the big question... are we going to see top-tier BW talent born after 1996? Seems bleak rn for sure, let's enjoy it while it lasts.... | ||

its obvious that pro bw will fade. its straight up impossible for anyone not from that era to play to that standard | ||

If you consider Ruin all he does is play fastest maps.I would say he is pretty good.I have seen the guy using the 3 races in a single game.Crazy to watch honestly.He actually makes a living from that and he has a big community.So it makes sense he doesnt really put effort in 1v1. | ||

I joined a 1v1 FS melee game on USWEST and when the game started my scv worker instantly built and my opponent snap quit and then right after i was logged out of bnet and couldn't log back on... WTF is goin on these days how is it possible that the triggers were rigged in a melee setting game ( zero build time for scv worker....) The player you're describing is Brain aka Sea.KH. Not Ruin. But yeah he's such a talent, from playing fastest to beating Light and Soulkey the last time he played ASL. Too bad he didn't stick with 1v1 after that. If he carried on he'd probably be in the top 5 Protoss right now. But he's not that young either (born in 1993). | ||

Pro level BW will not die, but will certainly fall down quite a bit when top players of the current era will retires. Early 2000, when Kasparov retired, chess was not a super popular game. All it took was one little guy to get it back on the map. Lets hope for a MG bonjwa to emerge right in time :D | ||
