I was watching sea's fpvod since he was playing in SRT. Then some viewer mentioned about Best streaming BW. Which I went to look, and he was actually. He showed his webcam for like a sec, which I was not able to take any picture. He said he is doing this for fun.
Facts: +he was getting lots of balloons from his fans. +he hasn't played BW for like 1.5 years.
Not sure how to add a picture or screenshotr, but it seems his id in fish server is Best[WHITE].
I will add more facts as I hear something interesting.

hmm he moved to being captain right? Kind of like a player coach, does this mean he's retired or just playing when he has a bit of free time.
He mentioned that he's on vacation. So he's using that time to not only to have fun, but also to practice.
Oh yeah, SKT got knocked out T_T so they're probably all on vacation. Hope the practice means he'll be competing in the next SSL. Watching him now he's still susceptible to vult harass, but after 1.5 years not playing it can be forgiven :D and he just showed himself on webcam.

They all should retire and make an BW comeback!
If those players should retire including Fantasy and not return to Brood War then I'm forced to do something never before and enter competitive BW play. There I must wear a mask of Bisu and master his ways so that the future of BW will not have to miss the greatness that once was.

Fantasy will probably renew his contract just based on how well he's been doing in Sc2, but Stork and BeSt will probably retire. Not really worth time to devote to something you don't love or do well in. Bisu, idk though.

I don't think he'll retire either. He's the captain of SKT1. He'll be around just for the team.
again, he specifically said he's not going to retire. He's doing this for fun. Not sure when he's going to stream next, but remember, he's on vacation. So he won't be able to stream when he goes back to his practice room.

ya, agree to this. Stork's game is really underwhelming for someone of his caliber. Bisu has shown a ton of improvement and even Best was doing really well for a while. Sadly, not as much as now which is probably why he went the coach route.

Stork wasn't really a dominating player for a long time though right? He was a consistent guy for his boys (and coach) but he REALLY started crumbling closer to the end of BW to my memory. Could be wrong, of course.

Agreed. He can come back as a coach or maybe if he likes LotV when it comes out he can come back to play it. Otherwise it will be interesting to see what he does with himself in the future. Maybe male model?

I think with this amount of fans and publicity as he has, he will most probably do something in SKT
and also I wish he would play BW looks like he still loves it alot, so there is a slight chance for that ^^

when you've been doing something for so long, natural that you'll want to play it again ^^
Can't say I saw a lot of his games but he seems like a great player from the couple I saw. Hope he streams soon
He is playing it like sc2... rally pointing into enemy base and wasting wave after wave... also having all units balled up not protecting his flanks and bases.

Lots sniped two of his nats too lol. You can tell he's a bit rusty. My God BeSt, you look sweaty as shit.

Like you said it might be a part of his contract, they can't say SC2 is not the best game when they are progamer on it. Jaedong said the same, but how can we imagine one second it's true. Even Sea said the same in his interviews back then, and some day later...

yes that and he went from "just finishing my daily sc2 schedule" to "let's stream BW 16 hours nonstop" mode.
All good korean amateurs/people i met who had contact with progamers told me, they can't imagine that more then a few percent of them like sc2 better. To me, this statements are largely a mascerade and part of the players contracts.

he can't really say that he hates sc2 now can he, not that i think he does being one of the top player in the game. bisu is definitely one that would rather play broodwar. if bisu goes back to broodwar that's a million new viewers in the form of fangirls.
^^ it's nothing compared to what they made salary wise, but the chinese viewers are also scrambling some views from what I can tell (haven't watched closely past 2 months; I know movie vs fengzi showmatch happened and they pooled together like $500 for movie). Bw never monetized the chinese fans, partly because I doubt they pay much anyways, but there actually would be 1 million chinese bisu fans too lol.

Actually JD said in an interview "Brood war is the best game" (in English) when asked about SC2/HotS vs BW. I think it was Dreamhack sometime ago? Then he said he wants HotS to get more and more popular because it is the game of choice right now. Jangbi said essentially the same thing in a future interview.

BW <3
Pretty much....I still fire up BW more then SC2 when I want my rts fix, but its so hard to find games if you don't get on iccup at premium hours. Also I tried fish and its fun but a lot of times I get yelled at in broken english for speaking english >.>
It is an update on people streaming from military.
Summing it up: people in military service can stream freely on Afreeca, assuming they don't share any potentially 'top secret information'. As the military rules state, they are prohibited from doing any activities for commercial use, but if they get an exception from their commander (or whatever) they can get balloons.
I don't know how things were before, but I guess this is good news.
.. i don't think this is a coincidential timing ^^ :D

Okay Stratos, here's the plan:
We need to figure out a way to get Flash fully enlisted in the army so he can stream BW for the rest of his life. 8D
Is he back from the army permanently now??? Can someone confirm?
There were rumours he was only doing community service as he didn't pass the medical or something but he could be on leave.
The rumors are damn false just by this. BeSt could pass the medical despite tanking it.
?
I thought best failed things like eyesight requirements, etc. So you do bootcamp then get a desk position
Plus who knows if people have minor medical ailments that can disqualify you (eg scoliosis, etc). That's pretty common in US military.
Because I'm like 90% sure best did fail some portion and mentioned it, and just has a desk position
Someone korean would know better on what can fail. Iirc iloveoov had a knee thing so when he did his service he had a desk job
Old Korean news link I couldn't find any info on his medical exam results, but he is doing community service (most likely a non-military desk job) as a substitute for military service. You need to get poor results in some portion of your medical exam to get that gig. Various stories mention that his retirement is due to various wrist ailments, but his exemption from active duty might be due to something else. Anyhow, the precise reason is not important. It is good news that he has been allowed to stream. Looking forward to catching his games...
