I am not sure whether or not there are still people out there who plays lots of UMS, but if there is, this is your chance to complete your collection of maps.
I will be seeding this for the next couple of months (together with lots of other players judging on the DL speed I got). So get the maps and keep the legacy of BW UMS alive.
although these are a lot of maps, unfortunately it still does not give a representative sample of what bw UMS was (at least near 2006-2007 timeframe certainly)
Wow too many memories, Diplomacy 7.7 was the best :D along with heavens last stand!! sooo good why are the sc2 arcade game such horseshit? havent had fun playing a single one...

I tried creating evolves in the sc2 editor. That thing is horrid.
This is awesome! There's almost all desert strike versions i did back in the day that thought were gone for naught. Put so much effort on those, glad to have them back. With 18k samples i hoped to retrieve my favorite maps of all time as well, but no luck . Anyone by chance have the 1-15 Individual Random Control maps by E.X.C.I.T.I.N.G ?
Or does anyone know about the Tribes maps? Those were a kind of maps that depending which race you choose you have to endure a sequence of stages of good old micro, quite fun. These maps names were usually on korean btw.
oh man i forgot about the random control maps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so fun also dodge the rapist was prrtty epic xD
someone please make the ORIGINAL nexus defence or nexus war where u choose groups of units and need to counter the opponent ... this new shit is pathetic
I hope they have the "Barney in Space" map. I remember playing that like 10 years ago. Haven't been able to find it lately. So damn fun hahahahaha Edit: WOW they actually have it. time to play.
I am actually searching for a map that I didn't see in there... I don't remember the exact name, but it was like Lydia Cave or something. You started out as an SCV, and you picked a hero by going to a certain building. You spawned in the top left, and you ventured through with friends through, sort of like a maze. On the way you could go different ways and you meet bosses (like I remember one distinctly was a Reaver and one was a High Templar early in the beginning). By killing these bosses, you gained "experience" I guess, and you could go to a temple in the top left and upgrade into something stronger. Does anyone know what this map is called and then if they have a DL link or something?

Is anyone else having difficulties downloading this? I tried the torrent and the zip file from their site and both said it could not be downloaded. I tried the magnet link and nothing showed up to allow me to download. I'd love to have this map pack, just not quite sure why I can't get it
On a side note - My Legacies Open RPGs 1 and 2 are on the list :D
Hey guys, i hardly played any ums maps, so I was wondering if you can recommend me some. I am looking for a two player co op map. which two player co op ums were the best bw had to offer? Thanks!

Random Micro Challenge X it's quite fun and challenging, though you need another couple to play. Hopefully here's a version where can play just 2 players.

Impossible Paja is nice as well, and though it is intended for 4 players, my memory tells me you could play just 2.
wow thanks a lot for the recommendations! do you got any maps that are kinda like a "last defense" map against a super computer? Where we just build and defend against hordes of enemies. In sc2 there is a mission where you just defend against zerg hordes.

Chrono Trigger sounds similar..
nah chrono trigger starts bottom, spread out, and you work your way north.
I know the game he's talking about, i think. Was my favorite RPG at the time, could never get past mutalisk boss in bottom rightish area, never finished the map. Llythia Forgotten Caves RPG.scm
Pretty amazing! Looks like you need to break these down into smaller folders? In game, Starcraft doesn't seem to like this many maps to choose from within one folder? Or maybe am just not doing something right.

Ya wondering the same thing... What are some memorable Single Player UMS maps?
I remember one particular map (Something Legends RPG) where you had to defend against AI units reaching your temple or something like that. You could hire more guys as you gained kills + buy upgrades etc. Prob pretty standard lol.. If I manage to find it will post the name and/or map. I just remember having a lot of fun on this one.
On April 06 2013 20:02 LML wrote: keep an eye out for all my old UMS maps, they better be in there!
LML, The Master Of Bounds :D
damn straight.
Also made some other maps, though, couple of defense maps and such.
I knew you from your reputation of bounds and we even met on battlenet long time before on bwmn, but you probably don't remember my nickname back then.
Does anyone remember the map Alpha Knights or something of the sort? It was created by a user named Alpha..
It was a 2 player RPG and it had a battle system similar to final fantasy -> one player controls both characters, but once that unit hits an enemy in the field they are brought to a battle arena.
Oh my god. They have Bob'sObs maps. LOL! Bob was one of the very first people to turn normal melee maps into UMS mode to "Observe". For his Lost Temple version he made it so Observer 1 could control a Bengelaas. God I remember my old ~NH buddy blocking my ramp with it once and since it was invulnerable I couldn't get out haha. I was so pissed.
Edit: I would totally be up for an AoS game. Played that shit so much back in the day. PM me if you get a group going.
If there are people looking for people to play with for heavens last stand/defense games, go to "Clan Aura" on USEast!! People are still semi-active there =]

Anyone recommend some single player UMS? Need one when I'm bored and offline. Preferably TD. Can't skim through it all. I tried and all I found are some that are just impossible without any allies.
I would love it if someone had a copy of the most recent version of Ghin Defense hidden on a hard drive from 2006. I have an old version of the map that I found in an ancient email account, but I would like to have the most updated version and then put it on record somewhere so I can have and hold it forever. My parents threw out our old family computer from when I was in school without asking me and thousands of rare replays, maps, and rwas were lost forever.
Haven't had time to check this out myself yet, but a friend I gave it to says that BW only shows a limited number of maps per folder (a couple hundred, compared to the wealth this pack has...). Is he missing something? Is there a work around?
I didn't check with the 18.000 on my download folder, but with over 1800 maps on it, the whole folder is available. That limit only occurs on single player or LAN games, not on b.net, iccup or any other server.

no its definitely true, i remember on my comp before my hd failed i could only get through the mid A's before i couldnt go through any more inside the client (lots of them started with spaces or punctuation obviously but i had a ton of maps)
Didnt know where to put my question... so dont hate me :T
I've played sc:bw last time in 2009. But i've played only UMS, and for the most part Heaven's last defence or any other version of that UMS map. Now i've got nostalgia and i would play that games again, only i lost my SC+SC:BW cd, and i will get it, but dont know if there is anyone how still plays UMS in starcraft at all.
Since there is SC2, i figured there will be no more players at all. But somehow, i dont like sc2 at all, to even consider to buy it. So my question would be, are there still people who play UMS as there was 5 years ago? Or is it dead now, after release of SC2 ?

UMS/team/fastest is still massively popular on korean fish server and asia server at peak hours many of the popular maps get filled up almost instantly. almost all are in korean. sc2 is the ded one i would say.

sc2 ded game. sick meme.
hes right though, UMS on korea fish/asia server is nuts. i play lots of fastest there when im too tired to play actual melee.
Thank you so much for this map pack! this is awesome! ive found a bunch of great maps from back in the day already. so hey i have a question!! theres a great defense map i remember, quite well made, and i cant remember the name for the life of me! ive been searching through the map pack for days now and cant find it either :/ i drew my closest recolection of the map as i could, and ill post it here, if anyone knows the name that would be more help than you could imagine! thanks and thanks again!! http://s27.postimg.org/41z1bbezn/sc_paint_map.png
so its a map that the units go down the path past each players defenses, ground and air units, i think you could get cannons if you saved for them. if anyone has any idea id greatyly appreciate it!

SC2 editor is actually really good... but it's too powerful for just casual map makers, which means a lot of people never get over the initial learning curve.
Sweet mother of pearl. My maps didn't make the cut. They're lost in time/space.
I still have 1500 maps from 2000-2004 , so maybe theyre in my collection
You don't happen to have any Dune maps, do you? Perhaps one called Dune - Battle for Arrakis (or similar title).
I made this map in about that era, probably around 2001. I played it a lot on US West and I would actually see it hosted occasionally, but it unfortunately isn't in this big map pack and I lost it long ago.
There are some other Dune maps in the pack, but they are nothing like the one I had made. Just would love to look back and see what 15 year old me was creating...
