Though apparently it's illegal in competitive games since it's a bug. Anyway, you guys should check out this. Epic strategies in 1998! Who needs multiple copies of SC? Does StarCraft support "spawning"? It sure does. One StarCraft CD can support up to 8 players. When you install StarCraft on a system, you have the option to install a "spawned" copy of the game, which does not require the CD to join multiplayer games. A spawned copy uses the same CD key as the parent CD, and it can only join games created by the parent. Spawning works over Battle.net, too! Of course nowadays, it's either F2P or full purchase (usually nothing in between like the above). But yeah, back then, all Blizzard games had easy LAN support (one copy of the game is enough). Protoss strategy Shields Upgrades By far the most useful upgrade for the Protoss, the Plasma Shield upgrade will add to the shield maximum for all units and buildings. Combined with Armor upgrades, you can noticeably increase the lifespan of your units. As such, the Plasma Shield Upgrade should always be researched as early as possible. Defiler Here is a list of units that are NOT affected by Dark Swarm: Terrans: Firebats Siege Tanks in Siege Mode (can still inflict splash damage) Protoss: Probes Zealots Dark Templar Reavers (can still inflict splash damage) Archons Zerg: Drones Zerglings Lurkers (can inflict both direct and splash damage) Ultralisks Broodlings Infested Terrans (can inflict both direct and splash damage) I remember in a pro game where a player used dark swarm against an army of archons and zealots. Wondered if they changed that in a patch or if the guide is wrong and meant it doesn't prevent archon splash damage (that is, the targeted unit doesn't take damage, but nearby units in dark swarm do?). The battle.net strategy site for SC1 is a fun read actually. It has lore info too for all the units and abilities.

When you log in SC2-I and SC2-II but I think Protoss strategy Defiler I remember in a pro game where a player used dark swarm against an army of archons and zealots. Archons don't do full damage under swarm, only their splash damage works. i don't think that was ever patched

ALWAYS. 2 zerlings vs 1 firebat: 50 minerals and 25 gas losing to 50 minerals without even killing one unit if the Zerg micros properly? Cost effective.

What's micro? It isn't in the guide so it must not be good! You probably forgot to have the Firebat patrol instead of move to its desired destination.
