Kim 'Shuttle' Yoon-joong has decided to retire in order to complete his military service.
A veteran of six years, he made his decision due to the transition from Brood War to Starcraft II.
Shuttle made his debut for STX Soul in 2007. He is known as the 'Crying Toss' due to breaking down in tears after qualifying for the OSL in 2009.
With Kal leaving for ACE, he became the veteran of the Protoss group on STX. He considered applying for ACE, but with it not accepting any more recruits, he decided he would rather retire and complete his military service normally.
In a closing statement, Shuttle thanked his fans for cheering for him during his career as a progamer.
Didn't know his nickname was Crying toss, but that's the first thing I think about when I see Shuttle so maybe it's a fitting nickname.

Yeah,this is an old game now but him vs Flash on Heartbreak Ridge in the GOM Intel Classic was a nail biter. And it was casted by Tasteless which was awesome back then! ^^
Shuttle TT. I really enjoyed his deep run in the gomtv leagues. I cheered for him hard when he tried the dweb stuff vs flash on empire of the sun (especially after beating flash on the previous day) in the playoffs
Wasn't he more well-known for his PvP? I mean, having a strong PvT is hardly something extraordinary. I can't think of any recent progamer who didn't have a solid PvT. Brave, possibly.

Yeah, and he used it against Flash! Crazy. Never followed Shuttle, but he's definitely a player I respect. Hope he succeeds in life, and I hope to see him on afreeca too. :D

He used it against flash in the playoffs. Shuttle was awesome.
I remember getting so hyped for him when he made the semifinals of the first GOM classic. He never seemed to reach his full potential (also he got unlucky running into strong players early on in tournaments a lot) but he was always fun to cheer for. Thanks for playing the game, Shuttle.
I don't get why people are so sad. He's just going into the military which is normal, its not like he decided that Acti-Blizzard had crushed all his aspirations like with MiniDong. Its more sad that ACE doesn't exist and he can't get onto ACE than Shuttle doing something everyone has to do (unless your vision blows).
awww, shuttle, so sad. i remember watching a gom starleague match with him, and the camera would cut to his face during the reaver drops, and the sad look he'd have when they'd dud. god i miss those days. good luck in life shuttle!

one of the best non-kor protosses and #1 russian toss in the past
one of the best nor-kor tosses was Lx, Draco, White-Ra. Tama was famous only in Russia, he even didn't qualify to WCG. I do remember Bruce only and Tama was definitely worse than Bruce.

Yea several have mentioned his PvT but imo his PvP was his strongest. I remember that period where he was tearing through every Zerg he faced too. Great player, best wishes!

Jaedong (possibly) hinted he wanted to quit (concerning tweet posted a while ago), but I imagine the money is still too good for "top" KESPA players to quit, even if they dislike SC2 or are at the very least indifferent. But how long will the money flow in? KESPA is still in the process of contracting (one starleague, soon to be only 7 teams out of what was once 12). Do they have a better business model than sending players over to MLG? When the money dries up, you'll be seeing some big names resign. Or maybe some weird bypass of the trade-block: "retire" followed by later signing with EG or something. Or maybe they'll go to LoL, as it is more popular in Korea, like Grape and Brave did.
In any case, if you enjoy the potential failure of KESPA's transition to SC2, the fun is just beginning.
