Former MBC game player RuBy has announced that he will partake in acting in a new KBS2 channel short drama - 닥치고패밀리 - roughly translated to be "Silent Family" or "Be Quiet Family".
He will be playing the role of "Jiang", who is a "not handsome but attentive and nice" young man, and will have many comedic roles.
The show will be premired on KBS 2TV on the 13th and will be a daily feature, the plot involves the antics and human interest stories of a re-married family. The cast line-up includes Yongnyeo Seonwoo, 박지윤, and Dasom of SISTAR fame.
RuBy Says: Suddenly such a good opportunity appeared, feels like my step into the acting profession was alot faster than expected, I will work hard to have a charming performance, I wish for everyone's anticipation ~"
The Chinese translation title also reads "Ruby showing the way for Bisu", no doubt Bisu fans have great confidence in his looks and potential acting career, lol.

Yea really came out of no where, I was not aware he was going into acting
Well there was some news a long time ago about how he was "training to become a famous person", whatever the hell that meant. I guess this isn't that big of a stretch. Good looks are easy to exploit in Korea.

I don't think it was a Bisu fan who wrote that Chinese title. lol
Awhile back there was a rumour that Ruby joined SidusHQ, a famous entertainment agency in Korea.

He's too shy though haha. Maybe play a recluse?
It's okay he will be perfect as the quiet anime anti hero / support character.
Hey didn't Ruby played one game vs Flash and won on some desert map?
And it was when Flash laid like 5 mines in which Ruby's 5 tanks all targeted the mine while siege and killed them all. Pimpest play of the year material.

Yeah i actually thought this thread was a necro of the old one lol.

not really shy...he just likes to be by himself...hes more of an introvert.
This is so random lol! I don't know whether it's the makeup artists/stylists/whatever, but he suddenly looks like a legitimate Korean actor for sure. Or maybe he was always this handsome :O
Ahhh Ruby, our Ruby, has grown into a star! Tempted to watch the drama to see how awkward he will be... or not be? He's sure a fast learner if he just debuted in 6 months! Or maybe the drama producer who was recruiting just swooned before his looks and just HAD to recruit him, regardless of acting skills. Hopefully that's not it, since that's the leading cause of most actors' debuts...
Omg this is the best after progamer career that I can think of in Korea Best of luck Ruby !! Fighting Lol he is really Handsome Whats next ?? Progamer Kpop Group !!
I don't know, isn't shark, and some other MBC players(prob ruby too), close to some DBSK members(there was even a picture of them that I don't have) and some other k-idols too? They have connections . Where's Ryo?

I'll definitely watch Bisu dramas if he follows this path haha.

Looks, yes. Acting carreer... I'm sceptical, Bisu does seem very shy and such.

That won't be a problem. I'm pretty sure he can easily capture Korean women's hearts with his shy angelic laughter. He would instantly become a hit like IU.

Why would you compare Bisu to IU? There is no comparison. IU is beyond godly.

yeah i don't get that either
pretty sure ruby was A class on that progamer looks rating thread

Killer is handsome too. I hope Ruby shows Killer the light. Also his handsome MBC bro that's not doing well in SC2.

IU is Korea's Princess, she deserves the Crown Prince. LMAO

Being a prince does not make him manly. IU deserves someone who is a real man.

IU deserves the Mantoss.
IU skt t1 all the way. She doesn't go for that lowly kt stuff. of course, pics are fomos so won't reproduce here.
ruby so handsome, but in a weird way i think he looks even better with short hair (perhaps buzz cut) like his tlpd pic, ace days......just makes his facial structure/jawline/features just pop out
anyway, he was one of my favorite players, he was actually surprisingly strong player with great results. he was able to play against the very best players and have a respectable score (his tvz really stands out). very underrated player, if i'm not mistaken i think sk telecom was interested in buying him, i hope he can carry those good results and discipline and mental fortitude into anything he does
Acting within the Korean system isn't that impressive. I've seen dramas and frankly they are low quality. I will be more interested when he begins to challenge himself. Still, early days yet.
AWESOME!! as an avid bw fan/player enrolled in an acting conservatory and heading towards a career in it its crazy how little overlap ive ever found between these two wonderful, wonderful worlds. dont know korea [YET] but looking forward to a player in the business...... AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!!!!
Thanks for the link phosphorylation! I agree with you; Ruby's acting (and singing) skills have impressed me! I'm glad that he hasn't followed the trend of new actors trying too hard in their first stint- his acting feels quite natural and relaxed. Fomos netizens' reactions are positive as well; very little flaming for once.
I'm kinda miffed at how Ruby's character has such an unfortunate intro... Really, making him look like a hobo? I wonder how he felt being told, "You'll be playing a young man who has just returned from living in Europe. In your first scenes, you will kiss a man on the cheek, and be smacked around by women." He better become the prettyboy pimp later and get every single girl. But he'll probably remain as comic relief to be smacked around for our entertainment.
I can imagine the surprise Korean netizens get as they look up his background and find out that he was a former pro BW player. I can also imagine the amount of interviews/variety shows racking up in the future featuring him being asked to show off his BW skills and forced to crush some noobs, which in turn will rack up not only new fangirls sighing in awe over him, but hopefully fanboys as well, lol. I feel proud of our Ruby becoming a rising star! Fame and fortune was denied to him in his pro BW days, but seems to have finally arrived now.
And of course, Ruby doesn't have the mandatory military service hanging over his head like some other young actors because he came out of AIR FORCE ACE!!!
Everyone knows that the not so handsome guy gets the girl in the end. IMO, he looks handsome though. I don't understand how he got the part, unless this is one of those napoleon dynamite things.

More of an asian soap show thing really, they're all like that. I'm discriminating a bit with the Asian thing but every chinese, japanese and korean soap drama has been the exact same
I dunno, the way it's been described to me/impressions is that korean soap dramas are more the standard unrequited love or a main character goes to the hospital from an accident and is minorly injured on a hospital bed and stuff like that, whereas chinese stuff is a lot more melodrama and "everything is good THEN CANCER"

I been waatching the show on the tv once in a while (the show itself is frankly kinda crap but I am just watching it for Ruby and the cute girls), and the bolded is precisely what Ruby becomes. He loses the beard and dresses up nicely and he is THE prettyboy pimp that every girl falls for. He needs to put on some weight though... so skinny.

Oh shit seriously?! I was just doing some wishful thinking, but it's awesome that it became true, haha. Awww yeeeah, girls flingin' themselves at our boy Ruby. Time to show off them StarCraft skills later and watch them full further.
Now if someone asks if you know any Korean dramas/actors, everyone can throw Ruby's name out and scoff if the person doesn't know his name ;D
Lol damn, I was about to question your definition of "cute girls", good thing you made an edit. She is very cute though without the granny getup. Good to hear that there's hotter girls after him too, whew.
The more I look at Ruby, the more he reminds me of Lee Jun Ki... I guess it's the nose and facial structure? But Ruby is definitely more better-looking.
