Also, a 1/3 reduction in salary seems like a slap in the face, especially since everyone except Jaedong got a raise.
The articles only mentioned that members of the dream team got a raise. The rest who were drafted probably didn't. Hyun was on 20k and teams thought that was too expensive too.
HiyA said that the salaries found in articles are usually wrong so how much Hyun gets isn't really known.

I know, but the general consensus of the Sc2 community seems to be that JD, Flash, Bisu, and other S class players are destined to dominate if they switch, but that average BW players won't have an advantage.

Not really.
It depends on results, really. For the Koreans, most of them do make quite a bit less than $35k -- $35k would be a godsend for a lot of them, I feel -- but a few of the top, top players are individually sponsored, and I imagine those sums are decently respectable.
