With the new korean servers trend just a little poll to know where do you play Broodwar nowadays?
You can also explain why you chose this one rather than another and specify what are the qualities and flaws to help the tl.net members to make a choice.
I think for the most part, super casuals play on the official bnet servers, casual-competitives (D- to C-) play on iCCup, and the more competitive players(C and up) play on brain/fish.
idk about if garena keeps stats, it's a hamachii like system (similar to the chinese VS server if you ever played that back in the day).
in terms of skill from worst to best in my opinion it's Garena -> Europe ->UsEast -> Asia -> ICCUP -> UsWest (mainly for op clanby or other korean team channels) -> Fish -> BrainClan
I don't really think there is much of a Korean server playing trend. Op Teamliquid on the Abyss still has a ton of people in the evening, even some of the people who said they were going over to the Fish Server.
ICCUP mainly because the average skill in Fish is bit higher than my own skill, and because I hate having to switch languages so I can communicate with the koreans :<
I play on fish only, because I can host and it doesn't take ten minutes to find a game. It's harder, but that means I'm going to get better in a good way. You don't have to know korean at all.

On topic: iCCup because US internet hates Korean servers. When I get better internet though, I plan on going back to fish; the server was too active that it took me a while to play games (too many people joining melee games and too many people spamming for ladder games). And I like having tons of people to play with.
I'm in the same boat as SNM. I used to be able to get onto fish pretty easily back when iCCup had it's huge shutdown, but now, when I try to get onto fish it's just like "lol, nope."

It's not like every korean is good.. most of them are actually more fun to play because they don't cheese as much and hence practicing is easier, that doesn't neccessarily mean that they are good, though.
I play on fish, because it's a pain to find a game on iCCup as soon as you get over C rank. And besides that, the choice of players then is also getting alot thiner the higher your rank becomes.
But it's mostly about connecting to brain. Where do I sign up for an account on fish, for example? The website is all korean
There's not really much to do, just install minilauncher or wlauncher, look at the "connect to korean gateway" thread to install it properly and voila... There is no need to sign up anywhere.
I'll play on iccup until i get above C rank and cant find games anymore. Then I try fish and realize I cant host, i cant write the game names, koreans wont let me download maps, every game & the channel lags for me (I give up). After new iccup season hits, repeat.
I only play on Fish for obvious reasons, but had I known about Fish before iCCup, I would have never logged on iCCup in my life. Fish is a really great server with a much, much higher skill level.

I actually play on both Fish and iCCup servers, and both are equally easy for me to use because I can host. The Fish Server's traffic apparently does cause trouble for some people, but even though I live in the US, I've never had a problem playing on Fish.

You realize there is a foreign community on Fish, right? If you need company and people to play with that speak English then that's fine, but if you want mass games on Fish just play the Koreans.
Iccup because I suck I am a D- terran and if i start playing in fish who's like B+ ,A+ gosus I am seriously going to get so demoralized probably contemplating quiting the game too . Met a lot of good friends on iccup so iccup for life .
I play on \\\ ICCuP ///, because I haven't the urge to fiddle with all of the doohickeys so I can go afk on a server for an entire day before playing with people who speak only in alt-code.
Despite the long waiting time for games, massive egos, and BR's, I like being able to actually play BW every once and awhile with less than 1.5 second latency.

There is absolutely no racism involved here. Ive played Iccup for years and by now i must have played around 1500-2000 1v1s. I can count on one hand how many koreans ive beaten. They are annoyingly good at abusing timing attacks and even the shitty ones make use of deadly mechanics.
Ive been playing this game since I was a teenager, slightly before BW could record replays. Its been a fun ride throughout the years but this is it for me. I cannot dedicate my time at this stage in my life to big improvements anymore. I still play and I do still try to improve when I play but huge improvements in BW skill requires a tremendously ridiculous amount sacrifice in your life which frankly is not worth it. At this point, I just want to win once in a while with my current (C- high) skill and based on my experience with koreans on ICCUP over the years, I probably wont win a single game on fish.

I think your opinion is invalid. I stopped reading after your first paragraph because of how funny it is. You've played 1500-2000 1v1s? This definitely makes you an expert. Of course any Korean, or anyone with a non-primate brain is good at timing attacks against someone who has played less games than a 2v1 cpu @ Blood Bath player.
At least there is one constructive, and educated thing in your post: no one is being racist here. Because Korean is not a race, it's an ethnicity, and after the Korean War, maybe a culture.

Im always hearing about this Garena. Does this server keeps stats like Bnet and Iccup ?
No and people in Garena are generally a bunch of noob shits. They either play UMS or get stomped by D- level players (One day when I was a D- noob, I went 12-0 on garena).

Im really surprised at your level of intelligence for such a large figure in the community. Boy, you're as dumb as load of fuckin bricks. My post was not born of any opinions but rather of my personal experience and intent.
Experience: I get raped senseless by koreans on Iccup. Intent: None to improve much beyond my current level of skill.
In fact, the only thing that might count as an opinion is my statement of my expectation not to win any games on fish. How the fuck do you extrapolate from my post that Im implying that im some kind of expert ?
Let me bottom line it for you. Im no expert and I dont intend on becoming anything close to it. I just want to enjoy the game and win from time to time....thats it. Grow a fuckin brain when you read other people posts so you can avoid posting such retarded and inflammatory bullshit like you just did.
Iccup because I can't be bothered finding out how get on Fish, I'm pretty casual anyway and if I'm feeling really lazy I won't even jump online. I'll just load up BWAI and set it on random Racine rebel and enjoy the fucked up build the computer does

Can not connect to any battle.net server (application version unidentified or something, with all versions I have tried so far), but iccup is better anyway.
I play the game of "fail to find a game on iccup in 20 minutes, get drunk and go probe rush people on bnet". I guess I should try out Fish more, though last time I just found a ton of korean terrans who like to allin and then lift buildings(seriously? ten times in a row? come on...). Also lag between Latvia and Korea doesn't help at all

I most enjoyed WGT, because I could obs ladder games or download heaps of replays on any level of play. The sucky part was the bot report obv.
As easy and quick as it is to find games on fish, there isn't a foreigner "community". Just some random individuals playing on the ladder to get better. At least on iccup there's a whole community of english speaking people whom you can chill and also improve with.
If there actually is some hidden foreigner community on fish, anyone know where that may be? (op teamliquid doesn't count, it's empty almost every time I visit)
To answer the OP, I play on both iccup and fish. It's hard to find games on Iccup above C-; making a game and waiting 10 minutes for someone to leave once the game starts isn't ideal. So fish server for random/ladder games and iccup for with familiar faces.

I'm D+, but I'm not really casual about it. I just improve way slower than everyone else it seems. I got in on BW wicked late.

I don't think so. StarCraft has a lot of very small things to do and remember that can make or break you very easily. Because of this, it takes a lot of time and dedication to improve at StarCraft. Even if it takes you a long time to improve though, it has very little to do with your intelligence as a person. I know some really stupid people who have reached really high ladder ranks, and some incredibly perspicacious people who can't play against a computer to save their life.

Its pretty much the latin server, anyone who speak spanish goes there Its the "lets play just 4 fun" server because most of the games are UMS, BGH or Fastest if u wanna play a normal game u should look for a clan in there totally recommend even if u dont speak spanish =)

LRM)Semih + LRM)Belladona went on that server for 2 days and played a bunch of games. They caught people hacking in 8 of the 11 games they played. They also learned TerrOr is the best player on Earth, and anyone who says differently is a "PUTA NOOB JAJAJAJAJAJA xDDDDDDDDDDDD".

I just found their website. They have a ladder like ICCUP. I really wanna try this server but cant find out how to register
UPDATE:
I just got on after painstakingly translating the important bits about registration. Im a little disappointed at the apparent lack of 1v1 games though.
UPDATE:
Just play my 1st 1v1 on RedG....I dont think these guys are aware that there are maps other than python. He played at the level of a 1300 point D level iccup player. Almost lost too. Anyways 1v1s are virtually non-existent here, it was just this 1 guy making 1v1s. The other games were FMP and a couple of 2v2s on python. Also, no one speaks fuckin english here which is my major gripe with this server and their website. I think ill be staying on ICCUP.
Since I just came into the BW scene(used to play mostly fastest long time back), I'm aiming for iCCup to start. Should be a nice change from SCII with all the old mechanics and such
