Weird decision, obviously they're betting on the potential for broadening their support base in China being greater than the risk for losing substantial support in Korea. I understand the idea but I think moving the PL final that is steeped in tradition and has been built up to for a year is the wrong way to go. Why not hold a special tour there for a week, or even move the WL final instead?

Yea that looks just like Kang Min... amazing game sense... and uses mind games well, but has the micro of a washed up progamer.

If they had, say, the semifinal held at Shanghai, I would totally be down with that. You still get the finals in Korea (because, after all, this is a domestic league), but still have a Chinese presence.

Holding the finals there is just dumb, I think.

to add my opinion, such a slap in the face to the koreans.

i don't want to beat a dead horse with the analogies... but i just have to...

what if the super bowl was held in europe?
what if the champions league final was in asia?

makes no sense, right?

I don't know why OGN didn't learn anything from the OSL final they broadcasted from Shanghai. Maybe it really pleased their sponsors but fans were pissed as hell with that.

Hong Kong doesn't suit very well because it is like some special zone of china and not to comfortable for people to get there.

And also a question - why didn't they come up with holding up one of the semis in China. I think that would already be something special for chinese fans. And even more - how about one semis in China and another one in Japan/USA and the epic finals in Korea so it would really be something special and at the same time not crashing their plans on expanding outside of Korea.

I don't know. How many people actually go to Busan from Seoul to watch as opposed to people who already live in Busan just showing up at the beach? To those people from the rest of the country who wouldn't make a special trip anyway, it's probably no matter whether the final is held in Busan or Shanghai.

Don't you need a passport to go to China though?

edit: also plane tickets are probably going to be more expensive/inconvenient than train/bus fare.

the fomos article seems to suggest that kespa or OGN (whoever is running this) is trying to spread brood war e-sports to the international level, which in itself imo isn't bad but considering how professional BW outside korea is dead, its a pretty idiotic decision. people are so stupid these days

boardcast fees. I am sure there are TV channels that are interested.

Why do they keep holding finals in China?

Because China is the hottest country in the world, Koreans are flocking to China for tourism in droves, and more specifically because China has the most gamers per capita of any other nation.

its actually the other way around

What? No it's not?

its not "droves of koreans". I've read articles on korean newspaper websites about newly rich chinese people (from their economic growth) going to korea for kpop concerts, visit korean drama shooting locations, plastic surgery, etc etc
