Hey, time to play some Collegiate Broodwar! This is the first season and my first time running anything like this so hopefully there won't be too many bumps in the road and we can all just play some games and have some fun
All games should be played on Iccup with the Anti-Hack launcher enabled.
Don't cheat, don't have someone not on your team play a game for your team, etc
If a disconnect occurs and you can not agree that there was an obvious winner, regame first. If you believe that there was an obvious winner contact me and I will look at the replay but PLEASE do not waste my time unless you are 100% certain.
If there are questions regarding anything, ask me by posting in this thread or PMing me or contacting me on Iccup (Crunchums or Crunchums[CMU])
Non-obvious Rules:
Alumni and students who know for sure that they will be attending a certain college next year are allowed to play for that college.
If exactly one team shows up with less than 3 players, the other team may choose to win by default regardless of the outcome of any games the teams play. Otherwise, the teams play a match in a format agreed upon ahead of time by the team coordinators, specified below.
If the teams can not agree upon a format, then use the format involving the maximum number of players both teams can field that involves the minimum amount of games played.
Games may be played on any of the maps in the Iccup map pool or any of the new proleague maps. If players can not agree on maps, pick maps successively from this list: Fighting Spirit, Grand Line, Match Point, Heartbreak Ridge, Destination, Andromeda, Tau Cross The same map may be used any number of times in the same match.
It is the responsibility of each team's coordinator to communicate with their upcoming opponent about when the match will be played. Matches should be played some time between Friday and Monday, but feel free to play them earlier in the week if that's better. Please try to have agreed upon the time and structure of your match by Thursday in order to give your players some time to prepare.
Players should know the race of their opponent ahead of time, unless both teams agree they would rather play new-proleague style with player selections only being revealed at the time of the match.
Above all, do what you need to do to play some Brood War. If you're your team's coordinator and you're going away for a weekend feel free to PM the other team saying another member of your team is going to act as your team's coordinator for that week or whatever. The rules are just there to provide basic structure in case teams can't agree upon things, they're not intended to restrict you from getting stuff done.
Match Formats: Matches consist of a best-of an odd number of bouts, which are themselves a best of an odd number of games between two players. The final bout may either be regular or ace match style. This setup is to enable as general a match structure as possible, for example two teams might play a best-of 5 with the final bout being an ace match but two players agree to play a best-of 3 instead of a best-of 1 so the final match result might look like: PlayerA1 > PlayerB1 on <Map> PlayerA2 > PlayerB2 on <Map> PlayerA2 < PlayerB2 on <Other Map> PlayerA2 < PlayerB2 on <Map> PlayerA3 < PlayerB3 on <Another map> PlayerA4 > PlayerB4 on <Other Map> PlayerA1 < PlayerB3 on <Another Map> Team B > Team A 3-2
Schedule: Regular season matches will occur on the following weekends: 9/25 10/2 10/9 10/16 10/23 10/30 11/6 11/13 11/20 12/4
Submitting Results: One coordinator from each match should submit the results of that that match to me via PM by the Tuesday following the match. In terms of detail, all I want is the final match score in terms of bouts (eg Team 1 beat Team 2 3-2 or Team 2 Beat Team 1 3-0).

Hello! I just graduated from UCDavis and have been playing a lot of SC2 lately, but I feel that a strong background in BW makes for a better RTS player in general. (I played BW for the last year and was #2 on my team in Spring 2010 season)
Although I graduated like 3 months ago, would I still be able to play just for fun? Is there any team out there who needs a former c- Protoss?

University of California Merced is also in California so I would guess it's closest to you even though CA is a huge state.

And for the team that's going against CUNY this weekend, I have full day of internship at WABC tomorrow and will get home around 9 PM and also full day of child free labor for my parents from 7 AM to 8 PM meaning I won't be around home till 9 PM to play. Just keep that in mind! So late nights are only good for me....

Is that a forfeit or did you actually play any games? If you didn't actually play you could just play the match at a later date if San Antonio would prefer to do that over winning by default.
Rutgers is definitely going to win the whole thing. All cockiness set aside, the players on our lineup are great. Our worst player would be an ace on any other team in this whole CBW (aside from GaTech, MAYBE. And CMUs ace was decent).
Regardless, the odds, statistics, and mathematical probability is surely on our side. Just saying.
Also, as someone stated earlier, AIM screenames/email or something should be given out to each coordinator. This way, coordinators can actually coordinate much more efficiently than through PMs on TeamLiquid. Thus, even email would be very similar to a PM system. AIM or some sort of instant messaging would be best to better coordination.

Are you talking to me? Because I surely didn't ragequit and I DID win my own game. Besides that, the two from your team that kept bming afterward were clearly in it to continue with the "jokes" and "provocations". Then, instead of trying to settle this, you simply call it out on me (which I simply accepted and took aside initially). I don't know about the rest of the rutgers team, but letting your members act like this isn't quite convincing you have such a great team image. actually the reason effort was in for ace was simply because he didnt get to play a set. in my PMs with ammel i initially asked for 5 Bo1s rather than 4 Bo1s and an ACE, but then i was told that you didnt have enough players for that so i accepted that. and seeing as how this league was for fun, it was in my interest to get as many people games as possible.

I just wanted to say that CEM did not play against Rutgers tonight. We let them win by default because of the unbelievable amount of bm.

Actually, let's clear things out.
You guys didn't "start being BM" after Shark said whoever was hacking, you started right off the bat with "hey don't come with an attitude". Then, you started talking about his rank and assumed that he was over himself or something, yet again before he did anything wrong. Finally, out of nowhere, you say that "you canadians are so weird", totally uncalled for.
So IMO, yes he had all the reasons to get mad over that, even myself found the situation awkward because, like he said, all the teams we played before knew their manners and were very fun to play with.
Why did I play anyway? I don't really play SC that much, barely go on TeamLiquid, but I'm still in this league because I'm having fun with my friends. I didn't think this would be much of a big deal, but you guys did act like jerks. Some random quotes like "you're a little bitch" and "we didn't even BM you yet", all this while trying to justify Hacking in a video game backed up with the classic "didn't you ever cheat, do you get laid lololol".

Uhhh... Saying you won't play because a person is previously banned for hacking is BM because you are pretty much accusing him of hacking (currently) by denying to play with him. Otherwise, why would you not want to play him? Unless you are referring to his supposedly lacking character, which makes him too low to play you, which is even more BM. Next, my team and I show up in OP CBW on ICCUP promptly at 9pm. At this time, Sawtf is there and we begin to just have some friendly conversation, as we wait for the rest of the CEM team. Upon this "friendly" conversation, I was interested in knowing more about Canadian schooling and how their computer science program works in Canada. Sawtf can attest to this. Anyhow, upon this, I asked Sawtf "are you sure your team is coming at 9pm??" He replied with "yeah." And you know why I asked this to Sawtf? Because I had PMd Sharkified THREE more times after what is shown above in the original PM chain and I got NO response. So how do I even know if the message went across? (I guess I could assume this because Sawtf was here, but I'm not one to make assumptions). At any rate, I guess in an act of exageration I had told Sawtf "I sent Sharkified 3 more PMs and he hasn't even responded, and it's been like 3 days." Okay, yeah. It was 2 PMs from today, and 1 PM from yesterday. Sorry, I exagerated. But that's just normal frame of speech. (this is the part where things start to "BM," according to CEM).

(the times are listed here, and since Sharkified believes no one since he is the only one who will NEVER sin, and you think I'm a liar, then go ask an admin -- though, there's nothing to lie about because these same PMs are in your damn inbox which you clearly don't look at. I mean come on, I'm the only person who's probably ever contacted beside the CEM team and your mother. One would imagine that you'd jump with joy when you saw Three unread PMs in your inbox).
So, as the nice conversation between Sawtf and I continues, Sharkified finally enters. And as it is shown, this is when the screenshots actually pick up. Sharkified enters the room with "what the hell" and starts to badger me about the whole '3 days' dilemma. I guess Sawtf must have told Sharkified that I said I PMd him 3 days ago? And with this, Sharkified comes on and just starts acting like I committed some sort of sin because I said 3 days? Clearly, I did not mean THREE DAYS in a literal sense. I just meant that I had PM'd him 3 times and I got no response for quite some time. That was all I meant by that, and I'm sorry, but if you take "three days" litearlly, you must lack sensibility and common sense (I'm sorry, this is an assumption, I guess I'm contradicting myself by saying this).
At this point, I told Sharkified he was giving me an attitude. And he was. How would you just barge in there and start speaking to me in a tone that is revealed in the texts? So, I told him to back off and I took him off his high horse. Did I hurt your feelings? As a youngster, Sharkified grew older and to the man he is today without experiencing any sort of laughs, jokes, humor, or sociability. Thus, he has no idea what sarcasm or exageration in any form is. I could tell him "damn, my grandma macros better than you!" and he'd probably go into some massive rage, and be like "WHAT THE HELL? It'd be funny to have a bracket set up for the playoffs with light and dark sides of manner, like the way the cells are shaded determines if a team is BM or GM (as voted upon by CBW players) and then you place it as light vs. dark in as many brackets as possible and we see who makes it to the top

I apologize for the lack of attendance and responses recently in regarding to this CBW as well as TL in general. I am currently busy with many things, mostly regarding outside matters which I have to attend to and make those things my priority over this because they are really important to me.
I realized that my team (CUNY) only consist of QuickStriker, piratetoss, moustachetoss, and CUNYsucksballswithoutme who are all me along with Coach QS, making it hard for my team to conduct matches with other teams. With no one else from CUNY interested of joining the glorious Royal CUNY Company, this team will officially disband and resign for CBW Season 1 as of this moment. I apologize for all and any convenience for other teams who were to face CUNY and had their thoughts of how disrespectful, lazy, insignificant, blind, and etc to this CUNY team.

Div B is more complicated since there have been so many unplayed matches. I don't think anyone would object to saying that San Antonio and Georgia Tech should be on opposite sides of the playoff bracket. The other two teams are more complicated.
So I'm wondering if NIU, Austin, CA+CO, and UNT could come to an agreement that involves not playing all of the remaining matches in order to determine who gets the remaining 2 playoff spots. Just looking at the matches played so far I would hazard that they should go to CA+CO (victory over UNT, losses are to San Antonio and Georgia Tech) and Austin (victory over UNT, loss to San Antonio). basically it is just so we can move ahead one week by making the MIT vs CMU regular season match a playoff match instead. maybe that seeding setup does not match up with each team's record but my thinking is as follows: CMU is not actually a good team and if we were to play MIT we would lose which would result in MIT as the 1 seed and Rutgers, PA, and CMU in a three way tie for 2nd and my resolution of that tie would be to say that CMU is not actually a good team and to give us the 4 seed... which would result in the proposed bracket. hopefully not pissing off my teammates lol

Haven't disappeared, we were in talks of playing NIU, but I stopped trying to schedule a match because there is a lot of miscommunication. UNT asked if we want to take the win because they couldn't show up by the scheduled time, but I reconsidered since I wouldn't want to take a free win off a team when we could just reschedule (hopefully once).

take into account individual games i guess, if even after the round robin they are tied and if the individual games are heavily favoring one team, despite the overall team record, the three teams could maybe agree on one superior team to go #2

As long as at the end of the match you have determined a victor in a format satisfactory for both teams, we've got no problems. And I would hope that nobody is going to do something dickish like claim they only have 2 players to avoid having to play their weaker players because really? reaaaaally?
I would really appreciate if we could get the ball rolling on deciding map line up/players. If both teams can agree on an order of maps, after that players will be announced right before game. For posterity we can PM crunchums I assume with the list of players for both teams.

Alright well ammel[core] is our coordinator and I don't know who yours is but since this is our mutual interest I think we can work it out (:
CMU vs Rutgers is happening 11/17 at 9:30 PM EST due to Rutgers having exams. Due to the delayed nature of that time it would be good for Rutgers both of us to talk to the winner of MIT vs PA before we play our match about scheduling the next playoff match to ensure that it gets played on time.
I am available for use as a "lineup referee" but I am away this weekend so if you guys want to use me you're gonna have to both send me stuff before ~5 PM this Friday.
Also it would be nice to hear from other teams who are playing playoff matches as to whether they have scheduled them successfully to get an idea of how things are going.

Uhh, I don't think the other team is going to show up. Our match was scheduled for today. I was thinking about merging with another team because right now we have been playing other teams with just 2 people (myself and a teammate.) Otherwise, I'm going to drop out of this.

If the other team didn't show up and you did you will win by default. But if you would rather drop out rather than play your next 1-2 matches you could do that too.
CMU is forfeiting our match vs Rutgers for various reasons.
So assuming that CA+CO did not play their match vs San Antonio and that San Antonio is not dropping out, that makes this week's match schedule:

Ideas last message to me was this: "wow, all Bo3s? thats a lot of matches... did you guys do that all the time in your division? I'll ask my team if they are OK with doing that (they might have time-constraints)."
According to this, there is no confirmation. I was waiting for another PM from him indicating that he did "ask his team" and if they were "OK" with it. I never got this, so I assumed Monday was not going to happen.
never had this close to happening in cbw/csl before, but I guess it's a unique feature of the finals since we should probably care more about the format instead of just showing up and playing games. hopefully we can reschedule another time relatively soon.
