If any of you remember my last thread, you already know that GOM Player is a great way to watch recent SCBW Proleague videos steaming on-demand with hilarious Korean commercials when you don't want to wait for the scene's patient and helpful Youtube/Youku/torrent uploaders.
Now, with thanks, I suppose, to the deal that was struck between OnGameNet (of Starleague fame) and Gretech (the makers of Gomplayer), the list of videos now includes OSL starleague videos! I'm just about to watch OSL for the first time streaming in Gomplayer, but first I wanted to post this thread and let everyone know, so they can join me. Check out my other thread for some basic instructions. I also recommend updating your copy of Korean gom player if you haven't reinstalled it in a while, mine was crashing until I did that.
Will Gomplayer soon be delivering the MSL to us too? I'm nervously hopeful that esports won't be shaken up too badly by what's going down in the Starcraft TV industry right now.
New directions: If you experience lag, I discovered that they've moved the video quality selection controls. It is now located below the big Start/Play arrow on the right in a pulldown, which shows the bitrate on mouseover, so it's easy to figure out. Turn down the quality for more consistent streaming (it still looks great, whereas the default quality looks *!*AMAZING*!*).
WARNING! the commercials will try to sell/addict you to a billion crappy Korean mmorpgs

I dont think you can watch msl vods for free from anywhere... both mbcgame.co.kr and bigfile.co.kr are pay-to-watch/download
|
That's correct, emucxg. MBCgame has also not successfully negotiated with Gretech as of now.
But they may have to, soon... and if they do, MSL videos may begin appearing in GOM player alongside OSL videos, which are already available. I'm watching one right now!

I can't find how to lower the quality
But it seems way better (lag wise) than a few months back (you could watch PL videos before they were uploaded elsewhere back then, I'm not sure about SL games).

That's ok, you can post that sentence in any thread and it will still be on-topic.

Quasar, once you've used the righthand sidebar and navigated to a page concerning a game or series you want to watch, there is a big orange arrow "Play" button. Note: I'm referring to the "Play" button in the sidebar nav, not the player's built-in play button.
Anyway, right below it is a pulldown menu, that's what I was talking about. When you mouse over the options in the menu, it tells you the selected bitrate.
Edit: to be more clear, the giant "Play" button is to the right of the information on the video, such as the duration, views, thumbnail, and user-submitted star rating out of 5 stars. You see this information after you've clicked on a vod event name in the starcraft list.

You don't need an account.
Personally, I doubt those old "premium" accounts do anything anymore, now that the time allotted for downloading copies of the games in those tournaments has passed.

even lower quality lags a lot for me and I can't let it buffer or it skips to the next video. So yeah, this isn't very optimal for shitty PC's
|
Yeah, I discovered that if you leave a video paused for too long (5 minutes?) it will time out your stream and force you to watch commercials again / skip to the next video in the playlist. Sorry about that.

Update: I can't figure out how to have both English and Korean GOM players installed and working at the same time in Windows 7. If one is working, it breaks the installation on the other, apparently. FML etc
FYI, OSL on-demand vods are sorted by who played who, they aren't full broadcast playlists like for Proleague. This means you'll have better luck finding what you want if you recognize the korean lettering for the player names you want.
The "Game" video list includes GOMtv's Starcraft 2 stuff, so the list can be a little crowded, and it seemed to be sorted by popularity by default. If you want OSL or another specific event, I found that the interface gives you a useful list with thumbnails if you click on the little banner ad related to what you want, like the one with the Korean Air Starleague Season 2 logo.
