Leta
"I have a good feeling about this OSL"

On the 30th of July, Leta defeated Bisu in the 2nd match of Group A.

This match, on Grand Line SE, turned out to be a lengthy game where the terran player took control of the center region and overpowered the protoss opponent. Leta's previously known weakness in TvP was nonexistent as he played a solid game throughout. Leta added that "I have a good feeling this season, so as long as I continue to do my best, I will reach very far into the tournament."

Q&A:

- Thoughts on dominating Bisu
A: Right after the group selection, my first thoughts were that it would be very tough to advance. I regained my confidence while practising and preparing. Thanks to our (Hite's) protoss players for helping me practice, I wasn't too nervous in the match and thus produced a good game.

- More on your confidence
A: My win rate during practice was high. Initially I had worries about my macro capabilities against protoss but something feels good about this OSL. I will prepare better for each of the remaining games and reach far into the tournament.

- TvP has been your weakest matchup
A: I've been too aggressive in the past and wasted too many vultures - which is something I fixed during recent practice. My focused training in TvP is finally seeing some light.

- It must have been easier to practice since there is no more Proleague matches
A: It's true, it's much more comfortable preparing for only the individual league. It's completely different from before when it was necessary to prepare for 2-3 different leagues. During the Proleague season, preparing for individual league means practising well overtime, which makes it difficult to maintain good physical and mental conditions.

- Your next opponent is Effort
A: I knew no matter what group I ended up in, there would be high level players and matches would be difficult. It's more important to produce good results against strong opponents, so I'll just have to show my best plays every time. Still, beating Bisu seems like I've passed the first major test.

- Your aim for this season
A: This season has a lot of meaning to me personally and I have a good feeling, so I should progress far into the tournament as long as I do my best. At the least, I want to reach the semifinals.

- Last words
A: I had a bad head-to-head record against Bisu, and my parents were worried that I had to play such a strong opponent. Since I won, they should feel relieved now. I will continue to put 100% effort into each game so they can continue to feel good about me. To my fans - I know the best way to repay for your support is to win, so I will do my best to do that!

Flash
"I will win every single match up to the SPL finals"

On the 30th of July, 'Ultimate Weapon' Flash defeated Zero in the 2nd match of Group B.

In a gruesome lengthy match where players nearly mined out the entire map of Polaris Rhapsody, Flash covered the entire map with missile turrets used the awesome firepower of upgraded mechanic units to defend against Zero's relentless attacks, finally emerging victorious at the end. [T/N: apologies if I made it sound so epic... I haven't watched the match yet]

Flash played his 100th game in the 17 OGN individual leagues he's been in. Already off to a good start in this season he added, "I will win every match up to the SPL finals so that I can be in my best condition in the SPL finals."

Q&A:

- 100th game in OGN individual leagues
A: It wasn't in my mind until now. Seems like I've been running non-stop in OGN. I'm glad to have won on such an occasion and I want to continue to do well.

- It was an epic match in many ways
A: To be honest, I was looking to counterattack sometime during mid-game. Zero didn't attack me then, so I just solidified my defense even more. It is dangerous to advance the troops when zerg has many many bases because if you end up losing the troops, it is impossible to come back. Thus, I remained patient and took it to late game.

- You said before that "Starsense" [T/N: just sense, but in this context, starsense!] is the most important skill for a defensive terran. Does that apply to today's game?
A: That's right. Again my opponent played inside my predictions and the game went smoothly for me.

- You seem to win if you just succeed at either attacking or defending. Which one do you like better?
A: Personally, I find defending more fun.

- How threatening were Zero's attacks
A: There were dangerous moments alright. If I had small mistakes I could have lost the game, but I was able to hold on in those dire moments.

- There hasn't been such a long game on Polaris Rhapsody for a while
A: The concept I prepared was a long game. Beside all else, I wanted to show that I am not in a slump, and that's probably why the game turned out like such.

- Your opponents might think it's impossible to win against you, no matter how hard they try
A: I personally think very highly of Zero. It's necessary to play like this game to win against such players.

- So many turrets
A: I had a lot of minerals, and turrets are great defensively anyway, so I built a lot. I usually build this many.

- This is a good start to OSL Ro16.
A: It is only the beginning. There is the SPL finals in a week, and I want to win every game until the finals so that I will be in the best condition then.

- Tomorrow's game is going to be a team-kill [T/N: Bigfile MSL, vs. Violet]
A: It does bother me quite a bit. Whoever wins, I hope the winner will go on to win the tournament. As progamers, we will play our hardest.

- Last words
A: I hope many fans come to the game tomorrow. I gain more strength as more fans come.

Sea
"I'm happy that I've defeated the toughest opponent"

On the 30th of July, 'Master Yeom' Sea defeated 'Tyrant' Jaedong in the 2nd match of Group C.

In the match on Dreamliner, Sea used valkyries to just barely defend against Jaedong's scary only-mutalisk attack, only to fire back with some fierce counterattack and force Jaedong to type GG.

Sea said, "I am happy that I've defeated the toughest opponent, Jaedong. I am confident for my remaining matches but I will not let my guard down, and reach the Ro8."

Q&A

- Your thoughts on your first victory in the Ro16
A: I'm happy that I've defeated the toughest opponent in Group C. It's a good start for me.

- Jaedong's only-mutalisk attack was scary
A: If my starting location was 6 o'clock, I would have lost. Luckily I spawned at 3 o'clock, and when I realized he went all-in with mutalisks, I knew my key to victory was getting valkyries. I desperately hoped that I wouldn't be facing Jaedong on Dreamliner, but I'm glad things turned out in my favour at the end.

- You lost many valkyries
A: I tried using P-control [T/N: patrol] but that didn't work out very well. I need more practice on that. Actually, Jaedong's super micro made it very difficult. Usually I don't build many turrets, but today I decided not to be greedy and plant more turrets - and that's probably why I won.

- Did your advancement to MSL Ro8 affect this game
A: Upon reaching Ro8 in MSL yesterday, I learned a lot of new things. I dropped a lot of stage-nerves and I feel that I can do well in Ro8 as well.

- Since you've defeated Jaedong, you're probably feeling more comfortable about the rest of the matches
A: As a regular in OSL, I know that even 2W1L doesn't automatically guarantee a spot in Ro8. I can't let my guard down until the end.

- What is your goal for this season
A: First things first, Ro8 is my goal. I must do my best every game.

- Hydra and Pure remains
A: To be honest, I haven't thought too hard about them yet. I prepared solely for Jaedong and if I beat him, I knew I'd gain enough confidence to propel me through.

- Last words
A: I'm really busy these days. There's something happening on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday next week. This is taking a toll on me and my skin's getting worse, so I tried booking an appointment for tomorrow at the skin clinic but it was full. I begged and begged until one skin clinic at Chung-Dam [Dong] [T/N: one subdivision-region of Seoul] allotted a time slot for me, just before a match. Thanks to the head doctor at that skin clinic, I was able to play in good mood. Also, Bisu may be shaken after today's loss to me but I want him to know that I will cheer for him in tomorrow's playoff match [T/N: SKT vs STX]. I'd cheer for SKT because of Bisu but perhaps for e-sports in general, maybe STX winning is good too.

Free
"I wonder why I couldn't make it before"

On the 30th of July, 'Thunder God' Free defeated 'Goozilla' Kal in the 2nd match of Group D.

Free won a crucial dragoon-reaver battle with ease and defeated Kal, continuing his all-win streak in the OSL.

Q&A:

- 5 games, 5 wins
A: When I first came to the stadium, there was a lot of people and it made me nervous. For better or for worse, a lot of people left when Jaedong's game finished. I was then able to ease up a bit, but then I felt that I need to do better. Still, majority of the fans remained and the cheers were loud. I wondered why I couldn't make it to such a stage before.

- Did you predict your opponent's strategy
A: I had a lot of time to practice, so I was ready no matter what strategy my opponent used. Players from KT and CJ helped me a lot, and I was able to learn from them. Thanks to them, this game went smoothly. I have a losing record vs. Kal and I felt that he was a baffling opponent, but today's victory might change that.

- Fantasy and Stork remain, are they tough opponents for you?
A: From the beginning, I never predicted any of the matches to be easy. I did predict that the first match would be an important one, and since I won, it's a good start for me and I should be able to win the other matches as long as I prepare well for them.

- It really seems like a tough group
A: Yes, I feel the same, but I will not go down without a fight since it's my first time here.

- Maybe there's more breathing room now that SPL is finished for you
A: I'm still practising the same amount of time. It's a shame I can't appear in as many matches as before. Watching other teams play in the playoffs, I feel that our team can do better. I want the next SPL season to start soon.

- Your teammate Zero lost to Flash. Did you offer any condolences?
A: Zero played really good game and so did Flash, so I don't think there's anything in particular to be sympathizing about. After their match I complimented Zero, "You did well. It's just that Flash did better." He didn't appreciate that very much (laughs). It was a fun game to watch and although Zero lost, I don't think he's completely down.

- Last words
A: Again I'm glad the first game went in my favour, and I will prepare well in the short time until the next match to show my fans a good game. I do want to continue my unbeaten streak in OSL and that will motivate me to practice even harder. Lastly, I want my teammates to continue to help me because I still have to play Stork.

Player Nicknames: All of them were in the original article, I did not add them in myself. It's the first time I discovered Free's nickname was 'Thunder God'. Searched it up on Naver and it seems like that people named him that after Free's awesome usage of psionic storm in battles.
Random fact: One giant cucumber was consumed in the process of translation. No pictures, sorry.

6 oclock mins aren't up against the edge of the map, so mutas would have danced from either side (nat as well as main) and demolished his econ. At 3 oclock, the min line is relatively safe.

Probably that one team dominating proleague (SKT) isn't good in the long run because competition is important.

STX never went to the grand final before while SKT did many many many many times.

It would be good for the competitive scene for STX to win.

Probably that one team dominating proleague (SKT) isn't good in the long run because competition is important.

SKT didn't dominate proleague this year, and they only narrowly defeated CJ. It's not their fault that MBC/FOX/STX are all bad now.

KT is favored to win the finals anyway, if Flash plays like good Flash rather than blow-all-the-ace-matches Flash.

Now I don't understand sth.

How caring about own skin condition ahs anything to do with being a "baller"?

Because 99% progamers say something like "thx to XXX who helped me practice, the end".

Saying anything non-standard counts as baller. Our standard is that low.

What does Sea mean by saying STX winning is good for e-sports in general?

Probably that one team dominating proleague (SKT) isn't good in the long run because competition is important.

SKT didn't dominate proleague this year, and they only narrowly defeated CJ. It's not their fault that MBC/FOX/STX are all bad now.

KT is favored to win the finals anyway, if Flash plays like good Flash rather than blow-all-the-ace-matches Flash.

You are missing the point. Go check how many times SKT has won the proleague. Proleague, historically, has been SKT's playground since 2003. STX never made to the final before. Hence, it may be to the interest of e-sport's competitive element for STX to win.

Not that I want STX to win.
