really? That's odd, I heard obviously from an unreliable source in an interview that they make 6 figures. If they do make that much and throw games for 10 grand, that's phail.

Only the best of the best make that kind of money. Most earn rather meager paychecks, and you have to think in terms of long-term security, which for a progamer is probably more or less nonexistent, especially in an environment like Korea. Still, this doesn't make throwing games any less shameful.

Also, they didn't intend to get caught.

I hadn't actually thought of this, but it's a very good point.

No. Only the biggest stars make money like that.

Imagine you're Savior. You go from nothing to a somebody. You're making six figures for playing a game. But you're slipping and progaming is a very temporary profession with no reliable follow-up career opportunities. Maybe you could stay near the top if you could get your game together, but the fire isn't in your eye anymore.

Intellectually, it's not hard to understand why these people did what they did. And I will still love Savior's gameplay. But I cannot forgive him even if I can understand it. That kind of selfish dishonesty puts the entire industry in jeopardy all for the sake of a quick buck. It betrays the teams and the fans.

On a smaller scale, it's like what Goldman Sachs does.

You know all those match rigging and stuff should be handled by the coaches and managers of the team. Think about it, the match rigging in Proleague only affected the team so the coaches or manager can choose to punish the player or not. In individual league, if you choose to lose a game or 2, then its YOUR problem for doing so. No need to get the government into this.

God... I'm still in the denial/shock phase. Savior, our only freaking zerg bonjwa, who so many people admired, LED the parade of cheaters. It's kind of like finding out that your most favourite uncle ever molested you as a child.

I'll attempt to do a quick (full) translation for everyone:
+ Show Spoiler +

Title: "What Ma-Garbage Betrayed" (TL note: also roughly close, you can replace 'betrayed' with 'tainted' 'ruined' 'disgraced' etc. Also, Ma-Garbage refers to... Ma Jae Yoon aka sAviOr, Roll-Ex, Oops[Busted], etc.)

1) YoonJoung (Shuttle) shedding tears after qualifying for a StarLeague

2) Olympus StarLeague finals, XellOs beat YellOw and in the interview, said "I love you mom" and burst into tears.

3) the fifth Royal Roader to win the title! // Sol Starleague Winner, Anytime! // the dream he never gave up // Sol Starleague, Anytime sheds tears after defeating BoxeR in the finals.

4) 5 silvers in major tournaments // when his opponent shed tears of joy // when his opponent shed tears of joy, he shed his own in backstage. // Olympus StarLeague finals, YellOw crying silently backstage after being defeated by XellOs.

5) After beating Stork in the finals, Jaedong embraces his mother and sheds tears.

6) (TL note: the direct translation is "complete championship" but I think it's referring to the SKY Proleague 2006 Playoffs) With the game lost and hopeless, firebathero is unable to type GG (TL note: because he is sad. T_T) and he cries in to his keyboard.

7) Shinhan Proleague Pre-Playoffs (TL note: 3rd/4th place team match. I think this was in 2009), CJ vs. Hite game 1 ace match on Colosseum, Leta loses to Movie and stays in his booth, crying.

8) I thought it would be difficult // when I saw my dad in the crowd // I gained mental strength and was able to comeback (and win the title) // [dad was] always a strong, confident figure // Daum Starleague finals, GGPlay comes back from a 0:2 deficit to win the title in a counter-sweep, 3:2. During the interview, he talks about the impact of his father and cannot hold back his tears.

9) MSL Ro32, Tempest defeats RuBy to advance to Ro16 and sheds tears.

10) NaDa crying after being defeated by JangBi in the Ro8 (TL note: tournament not mentioned) by a score of 2:3.

11) we were the underdogs // we are proud to be on the finals stage // you [fans] cheered for us and gave us support (It's alright) (TL note: the 'it's alright' probably the crowd reaction) // we are sorry (It's alright) (TL note: same as above) // After losing in the finals to Pantech EX, TheWinD and Yooi shed tears during the interview.

12) Bisu crying at the farewell party as he leaves MBCHero to join SKT1.

13) this victory and glory // I dedicate it to my father in heaven // this moment, we all cried (TL note: this blurb is probably the broadcaster's comment) // Shinhan Starleague Season 2, Nada defeats Anytime 3:2 in the finals and wins the tournament, claiming his golden mouse. During the interview, he makes the dedication and cries.

14) Avalon MSL Semifinals, Calm sheds tears after his victory over Jaedong.

15) (TL note: Lost Saga MSL 2009 based on the mentioned players) After losing in the finals to Luxury, JangBi burst into tears when he saw his mother.

Apologies for the rough job (I just did it as quick as I could), but if it helps, feel free to add it to OP. I also shed some tears during the translating process, especially at the NaDa part...

This makes me so mad right now. That said, I'm personally glad that of all the big old school names in BW, Savior was the only one involved. If someone like Boxer or Reach were implicated I might never be able to watch professional SC again.
But Garimto was always more than just a Protoss...

So many drama queens in this thread.
