The coincidental timing seems perfect. But still I feel it is most likely that - a coincidence.

He inspired you to play a game that you now love, and then goes and pisses on the integrity of said game for a quick buck. You're not the least bit unhappy about that? I'm personally curious where the Bisu and Firebathero antifans stand. Many of them fell in where they are because they were Savior fans. Where does that put you when you find out Savior's losses may just have been his own doing? On April 12 2010 16:51 Juicyfruit wrote: 2 million = 20 years at 100k/year you know. This is a pretty bad reasoning. I think his point is that, given that 100k a year is a very decent salary, the utility gained from 2 million dollars is way less than a factor of 20.

doesn't excuse it though. those who are using this as an excuse to justify every single loss savior had and remain a savior fan need to get some self-respect. sure he may not be as shitty as he seems, but skill doesn't mean shit if you're a fucking cheat. savior got me interested in starcraft and i give huge props for that. one bad act doesn't overshadow all good characteristics of a person (i.e. this whole tiger woods fiasco), but that doesn't mean we should just turn a convenient blind eye to this bullshit (if it turns out to be true) simply because players like savior were our hero back in the day. he betrayed his team, he betrayed himself but most importantly he betrayed the thousands of loyal fans (like the almost fanatic konadora) who adored him. and that, in my book, is disgusting. whatever he was in the past, its clear that he isn't now. so tell people that you were a savior fan. and tell them with pride. but don't fucking disgrace yourself by remaining one.

The bribe money is pretty low and I can't think of any other professional athlete that would purposely throw a fight. I guess boxing/MMA if the money was good, but not for the pennies these SC pros did it for. Shameful actions for a "professional". Obviously the bribe money was not low.

If he was guaranteed a 100k/year job for 20 years maybe. Btw, I'm not happy about this either, obviously, but I'm not going to pretend like it was a stupid decision from a personal point of view.

How many of you can actually say that if someone offered you potentially thousands upon thousands of dollars to throw a game you wouldn't do it? C'monnnnnnnnnnn NO FUCKING WAY. Especially when you are among the best treated, most loved and best paid players. B-teamers and poorly paid players may blame if they threw games, but who would bribe them anyway? Saying that it's acceptable for top notch players like Savior to throw games as long as the money is decent is basically like shitting on all the hours and passion that we, proscene Starcraft fans, have spent on this over the years. As someone said there's little job security and career future in progaming and that makes those who match fixed even WORSE 'cos they were risking an already shitty dream and future of other nameless players who are trying hard.

So before we start crucifying people, how much of this is confirmed? Well I was just about to point out that piping the news link through google translate, and looking for 마재윤 (Ma Jae Yoon) in the original seems to show that the news article itself doesn't mention Savior by name. The OP gives the impression that it's a rough translation of the article and that that Savior was named, so I figure I'd better correct that.

If Saviour was involved in anything untoward then this will be a dark day for Brood War and for e-Sports generally. And the severest action should be taken against anyone found to be throwing games, up to and including immediate life bans. However, so far we know next to nothing. I think it would be more responsible to keep away from the "OMG Saviour you douche" comments for now.
