There will be a whole new NSL coming up when this first NSL ends.... though a 2-3 week break is expected in between.... the NSL #2 will be in a different format of "MSL" style. I wish you luck and see ya then!

A few questions. 1) What is the map pool? 2) When are the groups selected? 3) When do we know who our first bo1 is? 4) When is the first game.
|
4) January 14 OR January 15 @ 8:00PM Eastern time (02:00CET)

This format seems terrible and unorganized.
Your posts show your inability to be objective and determine the best format for the participants and instead are just going on your own preference of what is "boring."
There is a reason WCG-style groups are used; they are fair.

Iono about you but I like this format :O

There's a reason why this new format is going to be used; it's original, gives NSL its own unique form rather than copy and paste like other tourneys, and less boring than "o look, geez, a round robin to decide everything...." Maybe OSL and MSL should have WCG-style groups for Offline Preliminaries then..

Updated the map pool for Qualifier Round!!!! Any questions, or forever hold your peace in the next hours to come where this is FINAL decision by midnight...

1. Just updated map pool so check it out and start practicing....
2. Groups will be selected VERY SOON (within 2-3 days depending on when he finishes the final list..)
3. Read #2...
4. Next week, January 14th and January 15th, depending on what you get from your assigned group which you'll wait for answer for #2.

At least OSL and MSL offlines don't screw over the players if the lose one bo1 -_- Original dosen't mean its a good thing, theres a reason that different tourneys use the same or similar system, its fair

This has its fairness in its own way. Originally the whole "second chance" things wasn't thought out. As for OSL and MSL, you do get screw over if you lose a match against one single opponent; because it's elimination round. And in there, only one person out of 8 people or so can qualify. At last here, it's 3 out of every 6.

I think this sounds really reasonable... We have lots of different skill levels (at least for us D-/D+ is a big gap). And this doesn't punish the D/D- players, while at the same time it still obv gives an advantage to the stronger players.

One problem is the Matchpoint map doesn't have a obs version... at least the iCCup map

You can find Match Point obs version in CPL mappack :d

LT is there for a reason? What reason?
Otherwise looks alright so far.

We should have a channel that all the NSL people can meet and practice together in :D like op NSL or something before it starts!

Third news/announcement (1/8/10):
Alright, as I have gotten pretty much absolutely no objections regarding the maps to be used in the Qualifier Round next week, they are now 100% official. So that means for all participants, please start practicing for them as you will start next week on either Thursday or Friday of next week.
My co-host wasn't able to organize in time to give me the 6 groups that will play on Thursday and the other 6 groups on Friday, so stay tune for that sometime this weekend of who you will play and when. But honestly, if you said Thursday on the signup, 99.9% chances are you got the Thursday one, and 99.9% chances for Friday while the "both" people will just fill in gap to make up the split.
Finally some people have PM me for the fact that they can't make it due to time but remember that these "8 PM EST, 5 PM PST" were SET TIME from the very beginning of the sign up thread. So for those of you who said you can't make it, you will still be counted in the Qualifier Round and if you don't show up, you'll just get a bye within 30 minutes of your assigned time.... (as prediction is 30 minutes per game unless you cheez yourself away in 5 minutes...)
That is all and I have "copy and paste" the assumed final list that O-ops put up on the other thread on the first post of this thread. Good luck and start preparing!!!
Now for any further questions...

Yep, that will be the official channel for all rounds of NSL so go ahead and gather up beforehand to find similar people like you! ^_^

I read that, just in case, PM o-ops, my co-host since he's the one filing and organizing the list. But if any case, you should be fine though PM for safety.
The brackets/groups would hopefully be up sometime in the weekend or Monday at the latest.....
