Some of you may remember me; others may not – so allow me to (re) introduce myself.
My name is Susie Kim and I am currently your ESGN TV News Correspondent for South Korean E-Sports.
What does that mean? Basically, I go to just about every single E-Sport event in Seoul and try to bring coverage for ESGN TV Daily News.
This includes the big games: Starcraft (GSL, Proleague, Sonic, Classic, and other various events), League of Legends (Champions, NLB, Masters, Ladies League, etc.), and DOTA 2 (NSL, KDL) but I also cover bits of Sudden Attack, World of Tanks, FIFA Online 3 and.. anything else that might be important.
I also get to go to all sorts of game qualifiers and final events :D
You can find my segments in the ESGN Daily News:

I guess the purpose of this blog is to say hello as I jump back into the scene. And before haters start hating (as I know being a girl in E-Sports is tough!), this is an attempt to preempt the hate by giving you my history with E-Sports and TL
It all started back in 2007 when I found Team Liquid…

Since then, I have casted along side of Nick ‘Tastless’ Plott in GOM Classic Season 2 in 2008 (I use the word casted very loosely here because I was absolutely awful!), arranged a handful of swag sales for the TL Broodwar community,

Here are the shirt sales, over the years. (I think there might have been another one but meh. Can’t remember.)

organized TL meet ups in Seoul and NY (I’ve blogged a bunch of those), among other things. All these things were done on my own time, as I had been working full time in Education for the past 7 years.
However, once BW died, my passion for E-Sports died with it. I just could not get myself to love SC2 as I did its predecessor and although I still attended events, such as IPL 3, 4 and 5 as a translator for the Korean players, my heart just wasn't in the game. The only redeeming factor was the community.
I have always been a people person. I love getting together with people who can share passions; the beauty of life is in the encounters one has with various individuals who have their own stories and experiences to share. It was in the relationships I had created within E-Sports that always kept me in the “loop” of sorts. I’ve met some incredibly interesting people during my journey with E-Sports.
With the revival of BW and my new found interest in LoL, (and also my growing disdain for the Korean education system) I contacted some people to see what I could do to get back into E-Sports, but this time, as a full time career, not just a side gig. E-Sports had changed immensely since I was involved, and seemingly for the better.
Badabing, badaboom. Here I am again.
Time for self-promotion!
You guys can follow me on Twitter, as that’s where I post most of my E-Sports related stuff. I hear this is what new generation gamers are supposed to do. I just follow along with what is “hip” among you young whipper-snappers.
My Twitter!
ESGN is just starting up and I am hoping to be able to bring more content to the community soon, including interviews with Korean players, aspects of Seoul and Korean culture, and even perhaps behind-the-scenes things like team house or studio tours.
Of course, Broodwar will ALWAYS be #1 in my heart, but in this day and age, it is all about living in peace with other E-Sports too. All in all, I am excited to be back! I hope I'm able to bring you what you want to see - and if anyone has any requests, you can always let me know - I'm all ears! <3
