I just played a Gold League PvP. Here's how it went:
The game starts. Shakuras Plateau cross positions. As soon as I realise I have to face yet another Protoss on the ladder, I'm like "OH FOR FUCK'S SAKE," knowing that PvP is by far my weakest matchup and they usually end in colossus battles anyway.
Me in the Red Corner, my opponent in the Blue Corner. Let's just get this over with already.
So I suck it up and attempt to play my best game possible. Lo and behold, I notice he has a lot of chrono energy stored up and his Gateway was earlier than mine. I'm wary but go 2 gas 3 gate robo regardless, as it's the safest option.
Sadly, due to poor probe micro, I lost one of my precious workers.
"BUGGER!"
Anyway, let's stop talking about my crappy probe micro and get right back to the game. As I suspected, 4 gate was incoming.
"HERE COMES THE 4 GATE!!!"
Not noticing it myself. I get into a slight skirmish with a Stalker that overextends itself up the ramp, but my forcefields fail to capture it. Then..... my opponent makes a major blunder, runs everything up the ramp, forgetting I have sentries galore and Immortals on the way.
"Noooo! You can't leeeeeeave!"
Having lost around 2 zealots and a stalker to my vigilant forcefields, he eventually retreats, having established an expansion. However, having only sustained the loss of one, solitary Zealot, I move out to his natural.
After several attempts to keep me away or partially trap my forces outside of his base. I bait out 2 Zealots, forcefield deny them and proceed to kill them off. Although 2 Zealot kills isn't really much considering I just spent around 100 energy worth of forcefields to kill them, every little helps!
"Kids, this is why you use Hold Position."
I then get my first Colossus out, I move in. He thinks I've gone all in and attempts to forcefield my army in half, but there's a fatal flaw there. Colossus break forcefields. I was waiting for this timing to just inflict as much damage as I possibly could
After several instances where I hesitate to engage, I catch his army out of position, focus my fire entirely on the Nexus and rip it to shreds. I then see his build up of around 5 immortals and run the fuck outta there.
"I FUCKING LOVE IMMORTALS!!!"
After my glorious Nexus kill, I rebuild my forces and hope to come back for Round 2. By then. my opponent gets out 2 colossus. I move back, desiring not to engage and begin to snipe his third with ease.
Then, without my knowledge, a drop occurs in my fourth.
"I lose all my probes, reinforcements and a few pylons at the 4th, yet I almost double my opponent's supply."
After holding the drop but with heavy losses, I remax on 8 Colossus and do a final push. The result:
"ITT: War of the Worlds"
But I guess the moral of the story?
Don't 4-gate in PvP
EDIT3: Changes are all done. Had to (presumably) reupload the images through TL's upload image feature because of a warning from TL BOT
But oh wait, according to this guy, low league games can't be exciting because they're either successful cheese, or macro games where the deciding factor is one solitary engagement.
