According to bulbapedia, the chance of getting a shiny pokemon is about 1/8000? Well, during the playthroughs I have probably seen thousands of wild pokemons already, and not a single shiny one.  On a different thought, the chance of winning the jackpot in a lottery is probably less than 1/8000. So, even if I start buying a lottery ticket every week, I probably won't live long enough to get the winning ticket. I guess I will never be rich.   | ||

Also, I've caught a shiny Ponyta using the Pokeradar. Why don't you use that? It takes a little while, but it pretty much guarantees a shiny Pokemon over time if you're willing to work at it. | ||
