Not playing Starcraft 2 is not cool. Yes I am truly happy to see my girlfriend out in PA, Something about not touching the game for a week for me is like a nono. But I had a fun time with her and glad I saw her. Now over the week I had decided that I would think about which race to switch to for the next season to start my grinding. I have to say that my week of thinking about it turned into more indecision.
How to even decide a race T_T it is one of those things that i have no definitive answer to. I guess I could random for another season to get my mechanics and stuff in order and when I find my race I can switch then. But I think I will decide sooner rather than later on this issue.
Zerg
I know for a fact I will not play zerg, I just cannot get the hang of how to play their style. I do think that the overrun and mass cheap unit tactic is also substantially weaker than the other two races styles. In just my opinion I am not a fan of the Zerg Play Style.
Protoss
Protoss is an interesting race. They have sort of a meticulous aspect to them that not many take note of. I feel that once a protoss has three to four bases and fully be able to defend them they are almost unstoppable. I like that style in the idea that if you play defensive game until that 3-4 base time, then you should be able to turn it into a game that you can just win outright. The reason why I feel that Terrans are having issues with Protoss at the moment is they are sitting and letting the protoss get to this late game scenario. There are options within the T’s arsenal that they can use to stop this from happening, but I’ll get to that later. I also enjoy just the theme/story behind the race, this super powerful wise race that can destroy their enemies with their mind and strength (High Templar one of my favorite units).
Terran
Terran is a race I have had some extensive time with and is the race I used in MLG orlando and won my match against the diamond zerg. I feel that Terran is a race that people rely on the early mid game, but they are also a race that can be deadly in the late game. One of the things that I see people not do enough is guerilla tactics. With the medivac I feel that Terran is a hit and run race when your are going heavy bio centric. They are also a good with the position game, if you have a good siege line in the game, it is almost impossible for the enemy to break it unless they harass and catch you out of siege. I also wish to see proxy buildings to create sort of a forward base, I think that since T can build anywhere have two planetaries and set up a position where the enemy has lost map control. Raven’s I also think are underused and some unit compositions I have thought of seem the be not used. I also like the humanity aspect of the race and the morals/story behind them. In the story when Raynor says some things are just worth fighting for really hit me (if you didn’t see it then: Video those dogtags have the name of a Blizzard artist who died of a heart attack at 19. This really got to me and made me love the Terran race.)
As for how I want to play the game, I would like to play with the ability to be agressive from the start but also be able to defend well. I wish to be able to play a game of not just submission but be able to be calculating. I like to strategize more than just brute force it. I don't really believe in build orders after the opening five or so minutes, I feel that this game can let you be creative enough to stop anything if you do it right. Creativity is also something I like; I want to be someone who isn't just doing what the Koreans are doing. Sure I want to master those strats to have but I want to create new ways to play the game. Lemme know what race you guys think suits me best.
Well enough talking, new season, gonna have to start somewhere. Fitness part will begin soon.
What are your thoughts guys? Which race do you like and why? I’ll see you guys next week.
Have Fun and Good Luck
Peace
