Does anyone else seem to find it ironic and funny that the older you get, the more you start acting like a little kid again?
I serve food at a retirement home for my job, and I have to say I love working and serving old people. They seriously are the greatest.. some of them are pretty funny and it's actually a pretty fun job (especially when the other people you work with are cool too). However, there's always the bad ones..
There's this one lady that lives there that has to be seriously messed up mentally, along with some anger problems. There used to be a girl that worked there and she's probably the nicest person I know, and this lady (Barbara) threw a glass of water at her one time, cause I guess she got mad about something, although I don't know what. I'm not too clear on the story, but last night we ran out of tapioca pudding or something and the lady, Barbara, apparently got pretty pissed off. One of our workers went back to the kitchen to get more pudding, and right before she was taking it out, Barbara just pushes over the table (with all the food and drinks on it and everything) and walks away to her room as I just watched and became shocked. It was probably the funniest thing I've ever seen.. she went into a rage all over a tiny dish of pudding, and our managers were really confused.
Anyone else have any good stories about old people?

Sadly no stories to contribute, but this is why we should pour all of our money into gerontology research - so we can stop getting old! :p

I work as a paramedic, and close to half of our calls are to nursing homes and such for the geriatric patients who are "unresponsive" or "not acting normally". These calls usually aren't real emergencies and they just involve a simple transport to the nearest hospital.
I have plenty of good stories about old people. One time we went to this French lady who was at an assisted living facility. The owner had called complaining that we needed to take her to the emergency room because she thought the lady had swine flu. So we go there and there's this tiny little old lady and she speaks with the cutest French accent ever. The funny thing is she absolutely REFUSES to go to the hospital with us. We take her temperature and it's like 104 degrees Fahrenheit. But eventually we convinced her that she would come back to her house soon and she decided to go with us. Then she started talking to me in French in the back of the ambulance, and I got to practice my high school French skills, it was pretty cool.
Not to mention old people fall ALL the time. One time this lady fell and broke her antique shower door scattering shards of glass all around her and causing moderate laceration. She was alright, but she had some amazing stories about being a flight nurse during Vietnam.
It's amazing how much knowledge and experience some old people have, yet they end up at the worst nursing homes :-\.
Oh oh, the greatest story I have is the one time where a nursing home where I work burned down to the ground. It turned out that one of the old ladies had caused the fire. It was freaky because after all the other people were evacuated we had to transport the arsonist to the hospital, and she kept on asking me if the building had burned down. Psychiatric patients are scary!

Not that kind of stories, but my grandad have lived a very interesting life, from working as a blacksmith to serving in the military and lived during ww2.
He's got lots of funny stories to tell, like when he was about to get promoted to sergant but didnt want it, so he pulled some shit on an officer to throw away his promotion, or when he cought a guy stealing money and I quote "spanked his ass with a belt untill his ass was shining red"
Whenever im over I hear some hilarious story and I love just sitting there listening to what he's got to say.

I have an interesting story to post about a crazy old woman...but I'm gonna make my own blog on that. lol.
Actually, your post makes me feel like writing it out now, so I'll go do that...haha.
Honestly, I don't like old people. I don't really have a problem with them in any way (except for the crazy type like the one you wrote about), but they can be...ugh. I've worked with them for volunteer activities back before college, and it's constantly awkward working with them.

There's a little old lady who's just had her 90th birthday this year who works in the dining hall of my residential college. No matter how long the line is, she takes exactly 5 seconds with everyone to swipe their card (really slowly) and tell them, "Now, you have a good day."
Apparently she also tells stories about how she was a WWII flight pilot, how she took down some enemy jets in Vietnam, how she slept with some actor, etc. I'm not sure how much of it is real.

There's this nice, old lady that I sometimes drive down the street, cuz she'll wear winter clothes in the dead of summer and try to walk 2-3 miles each way. Last summer, she rolled up my window on my arm when I tried to reach in and open the door she locked. Fun stuff!
