We'll be in Stockholm for 6 days and then in Lulea for 4.
Anyone have any advice for things to see, places to eat, stuff to do or anything like that?
Thanks in advance, I'll post pictures when we're back ^^.

As for things to do in Stockholm it really depends on what you're interested in; museums, tourist attractions, shops, sightsing etc.

Luleå is a cold mother fucking place in the northern parts of Sweden. It's like very far up in Sweden actually, further up than most people ever go =) I've never been in Luleå but I think it would be cool to go though, so have fun! Speaking of Sthlm, there's a korean restarurant there called "Arirang". I hear it's really good, google it if you wanna check it out. You'd also wanna see the old parts of Stockholm called "Gamla stan".

If you want to visit museums, I suggest you buy a Stockholm Card (available at the Tourism Office). It is a tad expensive, but totally worth it as you get free transportation all over the city and free access to most museums. The museums I liked most : - Nobel Museum : history of the Nobel prize and Nobel prize winners - Vasa museum : dedicated to a 17th century warship (the Vasa) that sunk just after leaving the harbour. Lots of info about shipwright and life on board. - Tre Kronor Castle : very nice castle, and lots of historical info about Sweden and the Swedish monarchy. Otherwise, you may want to rent a bike, as Stockholm is very well equiped in bicycle lanes, and cycling there is very pleasant. You can spend a whole day visiting Djurgarden island by bike. Other things I would recommend : - Commentated boat trips around the city. I know it is cliché as hell and you are likely to feel part of a retirement home annual trip, but you can learn a lot of historical stuff about the city and Sweden in general this way. - Visit Gamla Stan (Old Town) and its typical architecture. 1/2 day is enough though. - Take a boat tour in the Archipelago (and maybe spend a night there). It is not too expensive, and some islands are really worth a watch. - Climb up the tower next to the Town Hall, as the view is quite stunning up there. Places to go out : - Eriks Gondolen : pretty good restaurant overlooking the city. The view there is gorgeous, especially when the sun starts to set. The only thing that is more gorgeous is the waitresses. I am drooling again just thinking about them. - Södermalm seems to be the place where the Swedish youth meets every night. Lots of pubs, outdoor concerts, etc... Just get there (by subway : fast, safe, and not too expensive. Plus you have elevators that get you up the cliff) and follow the trend. Don't hesitate to go to the Tourism Office. People there are very competent and helpful. You can get lots of free maps, coupons, and ideas of places to visit/go out. And jut ask around : Swedish people speak ridiculously good English, and are very welcoming and helpful. I am sure you will have a good time in Stockholm. Keep us informed!

![]() Swedes tend to use too much solarium these days, like they have problems with being pale ![]() Can´t really say anything about Stockholm, I just turned around there once. Pretty city with lots of history I guess and lots of gr8 music. And the summers are best this north, lots and lots of drinking, staying up late and such if you happen to like that stuff. Knowing TL:rs you propably do ![]()

Yes, French people are mostly REALLY bad at English. But Swedish and Norwegian people are ridiculously good at it anyway. In my experience, the more you go North in Europe, the better the people are at English. I.e Norwegian and Swedish are the best, and Spanish and Italian are the worst. So Finnish people should be good and Greek people should speak awful English, but I don't know any, so I can't check. Back on topic, Swedish food is far from great (at least compared to French food, that's one thing we are good at...), but their fish is definitely worth the try. You can find great laks (or is it lax? Well, salmon) everywhere and cooked in thousand different ways. Try a Swedish breakfast if you can : I had never had smoked salmon or marinated herring for breakfast before. It feels kinda strange, but I liked it a lot. And it is very nourishing. Traditional Swedish dishes are usually labeled "husmanskost" in restaurants (Swedish people, feel free to correct me if I am wrong or mistyped). And the standard Swedish beer is quite bad. Try their vodka instead ![]()

I went to Sweden (whole Scandinavia actually) last summer and it just was a blast. Your cities are just marvelous (<3 Göteborg), so many interesting things to see (and pretty girls). The northern style of living just suits me perfectly. People are really charming and friendly and the whole atmosphere was great. Actually, I plan to move to Sweden or Denmark some time later. I guess you as a Swede are just used to it, but to me as a foreigner, it was an unforgettable trip and I'll definately be back after I finish my studies. EDIT: And I speak basic Swedish now, which is also nice to have!

Also since a while back it is the largest city in Scandinavia and if you count its whole metropolitan area you have over 20% of Sweden's population there so if you are out to visit someone you most likely have to go there. Also I never understood the whole "Little brother" complex thing, everyone from Gothenburg who comes here assumes that we will be all haughty about them being from the second largest city and such but people here never even raises an eyebrow about it. As it is now it is just a one sided hate relationship, maybe it was mutual a long time ago but since then we forgot about it several times over.
