Whenever I have a terrible case of sore throat I just drink lots and lots of hot tea, I'm not sure if it does anything but it'll make you feel better.

I have a minor soar throat almost 24/7 because of acid reflux disease so hahahaHAHAHA welcome to my world!

Since I couldn't find any honey in the house, I've tried putting a lemon wedge into hot water.... kind of working.

Salt water is very awesome for sore throats. It helps clear up sore throats and eased strep throat

Acidic stuff usually helps too.

Ok a few things-

Drink LOTS OF LIQUIDS. Your urine should be clear. If it is not, drink more.

Honey will help, so will chocolate- however your best bet is going to be hot liquids. (Tea, Hot cocoa ext.)

Anti inflammatory might do you some good. So if you have any around the house i would suggest that.

But i have some questions:

1. Do you have any congestion?
2. If you have any nasal snot what color is it
3. Do you have tonsils?
4. How long has this been going on?

I am going to school to be an NP so i might be able to help a bit.

Cayene Pepper(powder) with Orange Juice(Heavy Pulp) is basically an instant cure.

I take it as soon as I start getting one and then whenever my throat starts to itch. Sore throats used to make me hate life, but now they're no prob.

Edit: Unlike all these other solutions, this one is an instant cure. The pain will go away pretty much right away and you won't have to worry about it.

Don't gargle salt water, just drink it, works a shitload better

Let me make myself clearer: gargle, and swallow... so like you gargle it for like 30 seconds and then you swallow it instead of just chugging it

you could have tonsilitis. say ahh in front of the mirror. is there swollen throat labia back there? i have tonsilitis but it comes and goes. if you dont get those suckers cut out then just munch on aspirin and drink water

If it's really as bad as you're making it out to be in the original post, I second the people saying go see a doctor.

If you're exaggerating, a lot of the stuff suggested in this thread is pretty good, and also I've found aspirin to do pretty well on sore throats for me.
