But no, it's nothing like that. The documentary was actually done this February by Spike Lee, only hours after Kobe scored 61 points on the Knicks. The whole 90 minute, commercial-free film is all about Kobe against the Spurs last year to clinch the 1st seed in the Western Conference and also to win his first MVP. He documents the whole game, play by play and even though it's cool to hear him mic'ed up during a game, that's about it. Another sad thing is that the Lakers ended up winning by 21 points and he sits out the fourth quarter; Ginobli didn't play in that game so it was pretty lame, hence the blow-out score. Most of the time, Kobe is the only speaker but then there was a point where nothing was to be said; they were killing the Spurs, and Kobe was on the bench. So exciting, right? So then Spike Lee starts asking him questions not related to his documentary, and more about the 61 points Kobe scored. Yes, that feat was amazing, as even MJ could not score that many against the Knicks (however, the Knicks were alot better back then) but the focus just sorta faded away to something irrelevant.
The film's name Kobe Doin' Work shows to fail any work he does outside to prepare for games and such. I think alot of people were expecting more about his personal side but after reading some reviews myself, I learned that Kobe is very sensitive about it and doesn't let anyone know about how he lives outside the hardwood. Pretty much a disappointment by Spike Lee who is usually a good film director, I give it like a 5/10.
