I need some place to let this off my mind.
Basically, its a rant on my losses in SC:
Usually when I play with my friends, I usually loose because of some stupid mistake, or I a did not morph an archon, or I forgot obs, or I forgot to expand, or I did not place cannons right, or I did not expand fast enough, or I did not scout more, or I scouted and I did not know what to do.
I have been reading many guides from here and sc2gg.com (which has a great strat section). I dont get it.. its not even I win once in a while, I win if only I am really REALLY better than one of my friends... other wise its always something or another.
To make matters worse, my equipment sucks ass, basically some old ball mouse that goes beserk (doing things on it's own when I am not playing) and a wireless 6 year old keyboard that I got working in August.
Before I continue I will mention my sc history: First bnet game in Jan 29, 2008. First iCCup game sometime in the middle of the summer last year (July 25th ish). How many wins on iccup? 5 at most. how many losses? I lost count (50 or over)... after the new year I stopped playing iCCup because a lot of friends started playing, so I just concentrated with playing with them since I do not want to ditch them. Basically I havent iCCuped seriously for like 4 months.
Another one of my problems is that I can be a panzy. I do not move out of my base, and I do not want to turtle. Sometimes I get an advantange and I just throw it away (but it rarely happens since I do not get hte advantage 99% of the time). I think I am in that "logical corner" DAy[9] was talking about. Before the game, I go over my strat... but its useless, because I never want to lose my units.
My absolute worst problem is my phyisical condition after the game. MY HANDS GET COLD. like not a little bit, or not alot. I MEAN REALLY REALLY ICE -20 degrees celcius cold (est.) Even though I started to pivot on my "gamer bone" (which I think I stop or something), I get scared... then my hands get cold because the blood just drains out.RIght now my hands are fine b/c I didnt get bashed.
I am trying to improve. I have heard the saying "you learn more from a defeat then a victory" but what if you never win unless you are playing some newb? Worst of all, I play a little worse on iCCup than I do with my friends on Hamachi.
I met this pro,Sals.DenialS, and he helped me to realize my basics were lacking... I am not sure if improved or not since then (during Christmas break).
I tried joining teams to try to improve with people a lot better than me.First, my friend showed me to AoV (back then it was NP), I did not pas the tryouts, but they said I could stay and play with them. Usually when I was on, everyone was AFK... so I just stopped.
Next it was SCC. This well known clan let me join after my search thread some weeks ago. I played two games, and the rest of the time I tried to find anyone on the team, they were AFK. Then I started being inactive and I started f-ing around... and was eventually kicked. This I understand.
Now it is sdG. An old schoolclan that broke 9 years ago and they are trying to rebuild it. The afk problem is not that bad, until recently it happened again. No one is on when I am on. They are a great team, and I plan on staying on it... but ... yeah...
I am usually available on weekends (including Friday) when I am not loaded with work, and recently around 4:30 - 5:00 or 5:30 on weekdays (Mon - Thurs). I check everyday at 4:30 and no one is one, or they are busy, or they are afk.. since I do not have much time I go to iCCup, and lose games.
Now what does this have to do with fear? First I need to get over this cold hand syndrome that kicks in about 6:00 minutes into the game 99% into the time. Next, I have had a dream, about being a pro gamer...it is a wild dream but I think it is PERFECT. You get paid to play video games is how I see it, and then the thrill and the fame, and mostly, the fact that I can play starcraft all day, is very aluring. I always dream, day-dream, night dream, wtvr, about being the best there was... And i really think I can do it cuz all I need to do is get better...
I am afraid sometimes that I cant do it.. and my wining rate overall (1%, which is against a newb that rarely plays...) is very discouraging...
T_T
EDIT: I am going to put a FPview VOD/ stream so maybe you guys could help me with what I am doing wrong?

Gaming as a profession is not glamorous and not any more enjoyable than sports. Those who really work hard and are passionate will enjoy themselves whatever they do. With the amount of frustration you're showing I doubt you have the dedication.
Oh and you don't lose so much just because of some small specific mistakes, your general play must be weak and the only thing you can do to fix that is mass practice, and less posting.

You haven't quit yet because you still believe your hard work will pay off, you're naive because you're so far from the top you think it's still possible if you just keep trying.
I'm being very cynical but if you do prove me wrong it'll be so far in the future you'll have forgotten about this.

Quit competitive SC and play for fun.
You're obviously not meant for it. Based on the fact that you have a dream to play SC professionally and your idea of what pro-gaming is like gives me the belief that you have massive disappointment on your journey toward this "dream".

Story of my life. You just need to take a break and only start playing again when it feels unbearable. If you don't get the starcraft fever again during your break, just quit. Else, when you come back, you won't lose as much since you will have had time to re-focus and pull all your thoughts and strategies together. I can testify because I took several 1 month breaks a while ago and it worked fine for me. To conclude, try putting your hands under hot water before playing and then clapping them very hard, it should help you a bit. Gl with your friends and i hope you can realise that dream of yours even if it's a far fetched one

Well since everyone is attempting to say don't do waht you want and play for fun ill call them close minded dipshits. Your idea of pro gaming may or may not be correct. None of these people know.
Moving on....
This is the order i have had epiphanies in starcraft.
1.) Build orders. This is essential. Stop doin whatever and learn build orders. Do them EXACTLY. play vs people who are worse than you for a few days till you get 1(for each match up) down. play somewhat standard.(this means stay the fuck away from maps like Medusa and Destination. where you dont play normal and most people cheese at lower levels.)Play on python(ewww) and blue storm or something.
2.) Macro. Once you get orders down watch your mineral count in your recent replays. When you get over 500 say to yourself WTF!?!?! Im bad. Then go back and play games with your three build orders and work untuil you get good macro.(WILL take over a month.(probably at least 3))
3.) Scouting and Build orders. Yes back to the basics Now you have macro and you can learn how to ALTER your three build orders slightly to allow variations.(vs dt rush, vs 3 gate goon, vs 2 hatch lurker drop ect.)
4.) Micro. You will see now that you are getting advantages and still losing. Scouting is a big part. ALWAYS SCOUT EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME x INFINITY. And when you do engage make sure you are getting the efficiency out of your units.(Maybe you didn't get the right unit composition, maybe you ran into the wrong side of the army, maybe you didn't engage with your full army, or didn't flank. properly. Maybe you ran into his base when he was turtleing.
5.) Timing. Timing is something weird and I wont go into it because I would be talking out of my ass. Listen to Day[9] and try and trigger your attack to have purpose.
6.)APM This is where im a t now and my attention and hand speed isn't fast enough for me to keep up with what I am trying to do. I have 170 and I need at least 250 to be decent.
7.) Don't be Idra. Seriously, don't bm people and say you do stupid shit to beat me!!! Blame EVERYTHING on yourself and use that to fuel yourself. Don't let their "noobness" beat you again. Say "re?" and try again and again till you realize oh... that is easy to counter.
Well I wrote this because you should follow your dreams. I am only c- on ICCUP and am Not a good player yet. I may be TOTALLY off,but I would love to see you gaming in Korea someday. Live your dreams or fail trying. Some people sell their dreams and they may as well die with their dreams. To me, life isn't worth living unless you do what you want to. Fuck whatever happens. Anyways, talk to some people better than me because I may have NO IDEA what I am saying. Im just showing you where I came from.

You sound like how I was in high school, except instead of cold hands, i remember shaking a lot.
Right, the outcome of those days...
I worked over 60 hours a week selling wigs and hair products for a full year at less than minimum wage.

This is a thread from Artosis which is designed to talk about proper training. The thing that differentiates a very good player and a mediocre player, is that the very good player has played so much that everything is in repitition. It's not just playing the game a lot, it's playing the same match up using the same exact build orders with someone whose also doing the same exact thing. This will boost your mechanics up amazingly, as when you scout you will become adjusted to notice everything in his base, and the timing of everything.
This will also help your macro insanely. I remember hearing from someone that a decent player actually had a notebook where he would write down each build order he used until like 120 - 150. Everyone keeps saying "keep your minerals down, keep building". But everyone has already read this before, and heard about it. It's not just spending your resources, but HOW and WHEN you spend your resources. Such as should you make a tank and a scv, or should you make another factory, or should you start on your upgrades?
Keep yourself focused on the game, and play the game, for the sake of playing the game to the best of your ability. Don't get frustrated as this will make you play worse. Instead play concentrating on how your playing. Are you making the right units and buildings at the right time?
Also, it's not always about what YOU scout. Instead, what your opponent scouts. Lets say your playing a Protoss vs Terran, and he sends a SCV into your main, and sees you have 1 gateway, 3 pylons, and your cybernetics core is upgrading before your first dragoon is finished. He is most likely going to assume you're getting 2 gates with range, and expand around 5-6 dragoons. So therefore he will want to get an expo of his own to not get behind on this economic game, so he will maybe send out a tank, vulture+mine/marines to slow you down and secure his own expansion.
So how are you going to react to his plan? Since he'll be trying to secure his expo quickly, you can get a robotics bay to clear his mines that he surely laid down, and since you already have your robo bay, why not add reavers into the mix, slow down his factory productions, kill a few SCVs, or cause him to spend extra resources on turrets?
To take your game to the next level, it requires a next level of thinking. Stop playing this or that build order because you want to. Instead, react to everything your opponent will react to what he sees you doing. So its like "i know that you know i did this and i know that you'll do this since you saw that, so i'll do this to counter that"
