Here is a quick story that was one milestone for me on my way from StarCraft coverage to other games such as wc3.
This is the first ever WarCraft 3 video interview I did and maybe also the last video interview which was ever done with Creolophus.
I notice now how bad some of my questions and my oral English was. But that interview was one of my key experiences in my eSports career as I did that interview after the WCG finals in the bus which drove us from the WCG venue back to our hotel which was quite far away.
When I entered the bus I saw Creo sitting there alone in the dark glancing out the video. Until that moment I just knew that he won the WarCraft 3 tournament but I didn't know much more about him as I was during that time someone who cared mainly about StarCraft and its scene. So I took the empty seat next to time told him how impressed I was to see him winning over Sky, who was considered by me, as he played Human, as imba due to the strengthness of towers back in that patch version.
We started to talk about how bad the WCG overall was, as there were not enough spectators and so on. He asked me what I was doing here and I explained him I would do video interviews for myMYM. Already after a few minutes I noticed that he is somehow special and different to many other gamers, that he is one of those gamers who are totally ordinary persons like you and me and I think I never met again a pro player who was that totally down on earth.
I suddenly asked him for the interiew, actually told him before that I don't know much about the game and asked him to talk a lot. It worked out pretty well I think, even though many of my questions are not asked well. After that we kept on talking for more then half an hour, about life, Norway, traveling. It was such a great experience and I felt that eSports needs more 'real' guys like Creo. I met someone special and felt totally sad when I read shortly later that he retired. I wished I would have met him again. So, that's the storry why I uploaded that old interview once again, as Creo should be remembered.
I think that Warcraft players need to be in the spotlight more often. Despite Warcraft 3 being not as dynamic as Starcraft, I think that watching WC3 VODs is pretty exciting too (especially if it involves Moon, Sky or Grubby). Creo was pretty good, playing in quite a lot of tournaments before he quit.
Anyway, nicely done interview, you didn't hold back despite your not-so-perfect English. Good job
The thing is that many players encapsulate themselves into the games they have spent so much time on trying to get better by learning, practicing, training, reading, and playing and when they get to that point at which they consider themselves "good" at it, they start rejecting other games/races/strategies/players or anything that doesn't relate to them at all. This is the reason why many StarCraft players think WarCraft 3 is a piece of shit.
Only when one is able to look outside the box they've enclosed themselves in and decide to try other new, unknown (humans tend to fear the unknown) things, it is there when they start appreciating how good those other things are. Same thing happened when I was in high school and only listened to SOAD all the time, until a friend of mine (hot chick) forced me to listen to other things, and then I realized how badass other bands/songs were.
Since then I've never stopped expanding my horizons...

Main reason why many considered Moon to be 'Warcraft's Boxer'. He invented War hunting IIRC, as well as having kick-ass Zeppelin micro, invented the mass talon build, as well as going mass Faerie Dragon once (and won). Warcraft 3 has players constantly sticking to the same build, same heroes, same army unit combination, SAME FREAKING MAPS. Thank god Korean WC3 leagues are now using a few different maps like Melting Valley instead of the same old Turtle Rock, Echo Isles, Lost Temple and Twisted Meadows.

I can't agree with this enough. I tend to lump people I meet through games into two categories; the kind of person you can hang out with and chat about normal things and the kind who has nothing interesting to say outside of theory-craft. The former tends to be rare, and I've found that typically the higher the play level, the worse the ratio becomes. People like Creo should really be recognized a lot more than they are.

I'm sure the SC progamers are pretty normal as well, playing basketball, going out for lunches and talking about girls and stuff. There's quite a lot of those shows on OGN, just that they aren't available for us outside Korea to watch

whats war hunting? ive never heard of that, but he didnt invent mass talon build (specifically vs orc), a chinese player invented that before he ever did. moon just added a diff. hero.

I can definitely vouch for Moon being the 'Boxer' of WC3. You could even say he is a 'Bonjwa', along with Grubby, because those two have been around IIRC since the launch of TFT and have not left the top at all.

True! Though since Moon joined We Made Fox a bit ago he started to play pretty bad. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think he didn't win any single bo3 series until today and sometimes when I observe his games those days, I just wonder what's wrong. But it is somehow similar to Boxer, even though he doesn't win that much nowadays anymore, people respect him for what he achieved in the past and for how he changed the game. And that is fine and that is how it should be.
Talking about Moon, that is the the latest vid interview which can be find with him, I did that in China in January:
And talking about to be 'normal'. I hang out a lot with Moon as we were in the same team somehow. And even though his English wasn't that great, I always considered him as the maybe most polite gamer ever. He was so thankful for everything you did for him, and even if it just was helping him to buy a train ticket. Oh yeah, and he can also drink a bit hehe

Yea it's so hard to find VODs of him nowadays, especially after his transfer to WeMade Although he played that little WC3 vs SC players' Avalon Online match
