If you -really- fuck it up, it's really hard to fix. Generally, just don't touch it unless you HAVE to, and even then, the neck reacts to truss rod twists pretty slowly, and you should only do one quarter-turn per day, set it aside for a day and check it, and repeat that. | ||

Thankfully my bass is one of those beginner basses that comes in those cheap starter kits, so I'm not all that worried about fucking it up. Also for anyone too lazy/cheap to buy new strings. I've found that a good way to clean them is to get a bucket of warm water+about a cap full (or tablespoon) of tile cleaner. Just soak the strings in the bucket for about a minute, then rinse and dry them well. Should add on another month or two before the strings start going dead. You could also boil them...but I've heard that it only makes them sound new for a day or so before they go really dead. | ||

I was looking at this sorta stuff before i bought a new set... i heard things from Denatured alcohol to putting them in the washing machine then Baking them | ||

Edit: I just realized you play bass and not guitar. Most bass players I know don't change their strings until they break xD. Life's tough for a bass player. | ||
