so.. ive had my Fender Jaguar bass for about a year and decided to finally get new strings ...

*pauses for gasps

now... grabbed some Power slinky cause a friend said they were good and slapped them on...

omg... so bright... im hoping this disapears a little

anyway... just curious if I have to have it re-"setup" cause i believe the strings to be a different gage...
and dont really know if that affects the whole attenuation or w/e...
for all those bass gurus out there...

I've had the same strings on my 12 string for about... 1 year and a half. They still sound fantastic, however i really think its time to get a new pair -_-.

I have a classic guitar and i need to swap them every half year. frustrating because after winding i have to wait a week before the strings are stable in sound..

but new strings to play very good when they are tuned well

I had the same strings on my guitar for ~20 years, they are rusty and hurt my fingers.

So I smashed the fucker and lit it on fire while getting high and camping with a friend. Was sick.
Peace~

If you put on strings of a different gauge, you have to do some adjustments to fix the intonation.

Fixing intonation is really, really easy. I think the biggest problem with electric guitar/bass players is that they're too afraid to set up their own instruments. Electric guitar/bass is so stupidly simplistic and forgiving that I think everyone should learn how to adjust the bridge saddles and truss rod, when needed.

If the change in string gauge wasn't very drastic and you like the current action and the strings don't fret out anywhere on the neck, then all you'll really need to do is adjust the bridge saddles to fix the intonation. It takes some time to do, but it's very simple and paying money to adjust an electric bass because you changed string gauges is just an absolute waste of money.

i havent changed my nylon strings since november-december last year. its not so bad that i can be bothered wasting money, the intonation and sound is still good enough for me. just change em when they break or get impossible to tune

LOL.

I change my guitar strings every day, electric and acoustic.

Order them in bulk, $50 for 50 sets.

The fuck? Totally unnecessary and a waste of money. And where in the world do you get 50 sets of strings for 50 dollars?
