Ok ever since I started playing SC i have noticed one thing/
bnet has barely any 1 on 1 players...
is my conclusion true? cuz i hate those stupid UMS things (sponge bob defence... wtf?)
should i practice on battlenet more cuz i seem to lose on iccup alot. Atleast on battlenet theres no worry about ranking.
Also a pro once told me that he used to practice on battlenet alot before getting to iccup.
so should i go mainly on bnet or iccup? and yes i have a clan to commit too (btw on clan scc no one is on when i go on.. or else no one responds).
Poll: Bnet or iCCup (for 1 on 1) (Vote): Battlenet (Vote): iCCup

if you're really noob, then i'd reccomend you indeed go practice @ bnet
just make a "1v1 lt noob" and when you can beat most of your opponents, do the switch.
|
There's no worry about ranking on iccup either. Who cares about it. If it bothers you that much you could reset I guess. Just play on iccup if you're trying to get better. Losing is good.
|
It's not really hard to find/get 1:1 games on bnet but I guess you faster find people at your skill level on iccup. If you dont want to be competitive or dont like to think about rank as you said bnet is a decent option. I guess you have to accept that there are a bunch of hackers and stuff like that on bnet but it's not bad if you just want to play some games.
|
I would say go with iCCup, on BNet the skill level is admittedly lower but there are also many people who are much better than you that just want to cheese you as well as hackers. BNet also does not have LAN Latency.
In conclusion, go on iCCup lose a bunch of games while playing the safest and most macro based strategies you can, and if you can't figure out what you've done wrong come here and ask in strategy forum or in blogs. (Just make sure you give your own analysis.)

Yo I don't iccup much but iccup its where it be. Back in 99 I used to gamei only and omg....When koreans know they are beat they will leave the game. Focus and game. I don't game nowadays but I know this for a fact. Iccup it up if your trying to learn.
|
Oh and btw playing on b.net is like playing with the hackers trying to learn the game more. At least that's the way I experience it.
|
iccup is the way to go, but just thought id say, i play on Bnet lot, and those stupid ums games you speak of? some of them are really fun. take diplomacy, theres alot of strats and whatnot involved with that as you get to the higher level, but its ums so its a totally different game. even the stupid ones, desert strike for example, are totally mindless, but fun none the less
|
why even go on bnet anyway, the latency is horrible and most of the players are either complete noobs or bmers.

dont do that because kids who are higher ranked will whoop your ass too for fun. im a D+, C- player and when i get high or somethin ill get on and try ridiculous builds to huge noobs.... googogogogg Iccup 1v1 D- ONLY!!!!
|
You should start at iccup. The lan latency is nice and b.net is full of hackers.
|
I didn't have any of these horror stories that other people seem to have with b.net, as long as you have the ability to host games you will be fine getting 1 on 1's there. Yes protoss are more liable to cannon cheese but that just trained me to extensively scout... I rarely have a cannon cheese work successfully on me now.

so there are no wories about iccup rank? nice!
|
play on bnet with me D level Zerg...i like bnet more cuz thats where my friends are...however the map hackers can be a bit annoying...but they tend to suck anyways. iSCOUT4u on East brad3104 on West.

Ignore the ranking and play ICCUP :O

If you're just starting why care? So you might hit D-...not a big deal, you'll get better.
You'd be surprised though what a solid build order will do for your winning percentages. Just knowing one solid one for each matchup is usually more than enough for you to hit D+. Iccup is really cheese heavy though so be prepared for intense scouting.

I haven't found it that hard to get games on b.net. Look for the korean games or create, and try playing uswest if you haven't already. I dunno i guess i haven't been on for a while maybe it got slower recently. But two games a month... yeah you're pretty likely to not ever improve at all if you play that much. If you were playing more often, then losing on iccup would probably turn you around eventually and you could start winning, but there's really no point to that if you want to play casually. Either play more often, figure out the best time of day to sign on to play with your clan, or do your best to just stick to playing people of your own level, imo, unless you enjoy losing.
