I don't know where you are from but here in TX banks allow you to open up another account if you have a descent amount of deposit to open the account. I know a few friends that have done it while they had negative balances in other banks. Meh I been with BOA since 1998. | ||

I am sure the government has better things to be doing instead of tracking down a college guy that couldn't pay his credit cards. I believe Americans have some shitty credit card debt. I vouch for this b/c BOA gave me a 5k limit by the time I was 18. I used 1.8k of it and haven't paid it yet. That's a whole different story thou. I would say ask your grandma and make sure you have the dignity to pay her back. She's your love of the family. If you don't want this mess to continue. If she loves you(which im sure) she will help you out. Edit: Oh and I haven't paid the BOA credit bill in about 3+ years. Now like every 6 months I receive a letter from some debt recovery agency thats basically a lawyers office. | ||

Don't spend money you don't have or aren't 100% guaranteed to have by the time your statement comes around with credit. Credit cards can be an easy way to build some credit, or a great way to obtain ridiculous amounts of debt very quickly. Get the money off grandma cause she isn't going to charge you 30% interest like your shitty student visa will. If you are too dumb to use a credit card responsibly get a debit card. A lot of people claim credit card companies prey on students who are too irresponsible to understand concept of credit, but honestly you are fucking retarded if by the age of 18+ you don't understand what debt is and why it is bad. Also get a part time job if you can't afford $400 a month | ||

Also I can't ask my grandmother, there is always the possibility that she would say no, but there would be immediate tension between her and my mother which is the last I need. Also AFAIK TN state law states that it is illegal in regards to civil law for prison time if a person is in debt. This is CC debt, not alimony, or child-support. | ||
