This TvZ I played went on for about 25 minutes before the other guy paused for no apparent reason. I waited for 5 minutes, and then i couldn't wait any longer. I resumed the game and proceeded to kill all his shit in 5 minutes.
I knew that he probably went on a cursing rampage, but i was afk for the last minute or so b/c i decided to go use the restroom.
I looked at the replay, and he didn't say a word.
I then went into BWchart, and it said for the last 4 minutes or so of the game, his apm flat lined at 80. Is this supposed to be normal? I thought if u didnt do anything for 4 minutes, that your apm would hit zero...

Why would his apm hit 0 after for minutes?

It's actions per minute.
So probably after 25 minutes he had a certain amount of apm but if he didn't do anything for 5-10 minutes, his apm from the 26th to 35th minute would be 0, but the average apm would still be like a certain number, but definitely not zero =D

LOL maybe he thought it was like War3 where if he pauses he's the only person who can unpause so you would get frustrated and leave and he would get a free win ~_~

Maybe he thought you would just leave and he would win that way.

BW chart will flatline your apm at the average if you don't do anything for an extended period of time, I think.

When people leave a game, their APM flatlines at the point at which they left (not average APM, and doesn't affect their average APM in BWchart). That's just how BWChart graphs it.

EDIT: Leave or go afk for extended periods of time*
Peace~

You're implying that APM is graphed cumulatively, rather than instantaneously.

I've never used BWchart, but I don't think that's how it works. Graphing a function such as y=averageAPM(from 0 to x) would be less useful for analysis because APM fluctuations in the beginning would be far more apparent on the graph than at the end (surely you can see why).

Again, I've never used BWchart, so this is all speculation, but I think it would make more sense for it to graph "instantaneous" APM than average APM.

@op: Sounds more like some kind of bug/feature of BWChart to me.

Yeah, sometimes when I go into spamtacular mood in the beginning of the game, bwchart flatlines it at something like 200 apm, but I highly doubt I maintain exactly 200 apm for over 2 minutes.

Kinda odd about him pausing and leaving for so long. Most people would just say g2g and type out.

It would make more sense if the APM was calculated as a running average over the last x seconds...don't see why it would flatline.

It flatlines when they have no more actions in the replay, it's a bug I guess.

Neither this nor running average can be correct.

Like fight_or_flight said, it would have to be an average over a specific period of time. So, if it were working properly, in that case bwchart would show the guy's apm drop off with a downward concavity to zero. However, if that's not happening it might be a bug :-/

APM is averaged over current time+- a delta.
But it probably only calculates the APM at the times where an action is. So after the last action of a player it could flateline.
