EPTPICTURES OF BAVARIAN CASTLES!
Yeah, thats right. I traveled quite a bit in my own small corner of Germany and visited some Castles on the way. No fancy "chateaus" or palaces, but manly strongholds, that ate some cannon balls back in the middle ages.
1. Coburg Fortress
Coburg, Upper Franconia (Bavaria)
Built in the 13th century. Besieged in the Thirty Years' War by Austrians and Bavarians (wasn't part of Bavaria back then). Wallenstein couldn't take it, but later it was conquered.

2. Rosenberg Fortress
Kronach, Upper Franconia (Bavaria)
Built in the 12th century. Besieged several times by the Swedes in the Thirty Years' War and by Prussians in the Austro-Prussian War, but never conquered. The city celebrates it to this day.

3. Trausnitz Castle
Landshut, Lower Bavaria (Bavaria)
Built in the 12th century. Important stronghold and cultural centre of the Staufer dynasty of german kings in the 13th century. Besieged and conquered by the Swedes in the Thirty Years' War. They even blew a nice hole in the eastern wall.

4. Neuburg am Inn Castle
Neuburg am Inn, Lower Bavaria (Bavaria)
Originally built in the 11th century, destroyed in the 14th century and rebuilt. A not really important castle on the Austrian-Bavarian border, it even belonged to a scotsman at one time, but i was traveling the region and took some pictures.

5. Marienberg Fortress
Wuerzburg, Lower Franconia (Bavaria)
Built in the 12th century. Besieged in the Peasants' War. By peasents, yeah. Conquered and used as a stronghold by the Swedes in the Thirty Years' War. Again besieged by the Prussians in the Austro-Prussian War, but not conquered this time.
