if i applied for unemployment while im getting financial aid which pays for the entire cost of my education for the year, would i get less money the next time? i remember someone telling me if i applied for income tax my financial aid would be take away. i'm wondering if unemployment does the same thing. i dont know anything about taxes and such.

I'm not really sure how it works but I'm Canadian you would have to look at your specific state I bet. Definitely should look into it cause there is a lot of free money that people can claim.

I'm in the same boat. I work for JELD-WEN, a factory that produces Doors and Windows. My supervisors sound like yours too.

UAW doesn't even care about the employee's. It seems the people in charge and the President of it only care about their $100,000+ salary. Of course having lower salaries and pay and benefits is better then having none at all.

@MiniRoman - My work has some nice benefits and if I am getting laid off then I will apply for unemployment insurance asap. Actually my work has a benefit which for the first 2 weeks of anyone being laid off, they pay 60% of our weekly pay for 2 weeks since it usually takes 2 weeks to receive first unemployment check. I'm happy I have this benefit.

Also, I've saved quit a bit of money in case this happen. I think enough to live about 1 year without having to work.

Just off savings to live one year with having to work; or your savings + unemployment checks?

I didn't include unemployment checks in that so I guess enough to live without working for about 18-24 months.
