Hi I'm Jason... I. I.. I'm officially a workaholic.
So I have 2 jobs for now. No not McDonald, office assistant or some janitor bullshit but two professional jobs.
I co-op for IBM as a software developer. I work a normal 8 hour schedule. It's the most challenging job I ever experience(program in unfamiliar environment and programming language) but I never have to overtime.
However my second job is were it hits me hard. I work for a small tech consult company doing heavy CSS/HTML for websites. This company is back in nyc. I worked as summer intern with a small stiphen. Almost everyday I have to overtime. I overtime to midnight thrice before!
So now I work via online getting emails/resources regarding what to work on. Now CSS/HTML is just markups; Overall it's a straight-foward and simple language. However things can go really tricky and annoying when you are forced to design a websites strictly what the designer wants. Not to mention to code sites to look almost exactly the same for all browsers(IE6 is the bitch of all browsers).
Because of some work overload of my second job.. I have slept only 3 hours or less for the past 3 days. Amazingly, I didn't drink any caffeine and I am awake and do my shit.
I'm not even physically tired. I even played an intramural basketball game on one of those days. Time to time I will automatic daydream if i think too much. Is this even considered mentally tired? But overall I'm really impressed on how my body is handling this stress. Usually I will fall asleep the next day. To me this feat is amazing yet scary.
Anyone out there stay awake in this kind of condition?
P.S. I'm not 20 yet. P.S.S 2nd job payrate is 50% more than IBM, however workload varies. Tax fucking suck dicks.

Your going to crash so hard soon. Pity I won't be there to see it
|
Don't do that. 1 job only (if it's 8 hours). The IBM one.
|
yep
you will crash remarkably hard within the next day or two
and I mean fucking HARD
try not to lose your job when that happens and get as much sleep as you can
|
hire someone to help you with the unnessary, busy work things. money to make money?

Try not to crash too hard. Good Luck, although it sounds like you're doing alright.

A full time job on top of an 8 hour shift job? That's quite impressive, and yes, you are a workaholic
|
it would be really cool if you went crazy like Edward Norton from fight club, and started fight club franchises across usa whilst in your second personality

Less is more.
Unless you're in desperate need of cash, you're better off giving your personal life a chance, and actually living life. Those sound like shit jobs TBH, so I don't think there's anything in them to be passionate about (forgive me if I'm wrong). If there is, you still need to pick one for the sake of quality.
If your employers realise you're not operating at full capacity due to sleep deprivation, they're not going to be happy either.
Dunno, that just sounds like an miserable existence to me. I hope you're not using work as a tool to avoid other things (as is typical of the 'workaholic').

My college required us to do co-op for a year-worth. While I was still working on my 2nd job as a summer intern, I got an IBM co-op offer(for Fall). I immediately accepted. I don't have a impressive GPA, infact it's really bad, so it's too hard to miss this great opportunity. My boss likes me and want me to stay for a year before going back to college or IBM. I decide to gowith IBM offer anyway.
My internship was a blast. It was my first development job, I have the coolest boss, all employees beside the boss and me are females(all quite decent looking, all koreans), boss treat us every friday, fun and happy chats everyday, and free random starbuck coffee day. I never thought of having to "drag" myself to work. Boss offer to give me freelance work while i'm in IBM.
But because of the great experience with my boss and co-worker i decide to freelance for them while working for IBM.
Money isn't really what I want.. but there were some passion working for them during the summer and I just don't wanna lose it.
This near-sleepness night is rare. And my boss does appreciate my hard work.

In short: I found the internship online. I applied and interviewed and accepted. The internship was lowly stipend and I was a hard worker. The boss likes me. After I left he gave me a generous freelance pay rate to me.
During a IBM seminar held in my school I got the opportunity to applied for a summer co-op position. I was lucky.. I was dressed up for presentation for class and had my resume ready(the class is called Professional Communication which we learn how to present, do resume, write tech note etc). I went to the seminar for the free food/drink and learn what they have to say(I love techy seminars). It seems like I failed the interview process but was offered a all co-op in my school. IBM have a small lab there.
I guess the moral of my blog now is.. to take whatever opportunities you have and see how well it plays.

I took some minutes nap when i'm on the bus. Not really napping.
i usually cook my own food. I eat three meals a day. However the first day of the prolong wake-ness I just bought meals or make hotdogs and eggs(they're fast to make). I drink milk, water and juice. These days it's more on juice.

If you keep sleeping that little, your heart will probably start messing up soon, resulting in slower thought, lacking concentration and less general energy to do stuff. Had it happen to me on a couple occations, thankfully easilly fixed by lots of sleep. It's really discomforting though, as it gives irregular and at times uncontrollable heart rates.
No idea about the long-term effect of it, but I imagine you'd work your heart to death if you'd keep it up.
