Everyone I know loves two and a half men. I don't. I hate it.
I seriously don't think its funny at all. Maybe I'm a bit overly critical, but two and a half men does absolutely nothing for me. the delivery for the jokes are terrible. either the setup for them is so obvious that you see them coming 5 minutes before hand, or the show blurts out the punchline before building it up.
I can see that the show is trying to be funny but its falling short on its fucking face.
but still everyone likes it? I can't be the only person out there that hates it.
btw cleavage isn't a reason to find two and a half men funny
yeah. don't get me wrong, i'm all for watching Charlie Sheen try and get his nob a little wet, but this show is awful. it's pretty much the same thing every episode.. Charlie Sheen chasing around girls (and of course getting chased by them) half his age, sensitive brother does annoying stuff, kid tries to deliver jokes, and that fat maid is a bitch.
How did we go from 1 million dollar seinfeld to 300, 000 charlie sheen?
and do you mean current sitcoms? cause i'm pretty sure the Seinfeld cast still makes more than 300k per episode on re runs alone.

I can't stand comedies with stupid laugh track in background, i don't need something trying to tell me when something is funny.
Watch the seasons of mash that didn't have the laugh track, eerie silence kills jokes. Although I agree that live audience laughter is 100 times better than laugh tracks, but laugh tracks are better than nothing with punchline based comedy.
30 Rock, The Office and Scrubs are my three fav comedy shows and none of them have laugh tracks. I hate laugh tracks. Even House and Chuck, which aren't pure comedy shows (and therefore obviously don't have a laugh track) make me laugh way more than a laugh track sitcom ever has.
I've watched a few episodes of Two and a Half Men and I agree it sucks.
Idk, I love the shows you mentioned also, except Chuck and 30 Rock (not that I don't like them, just never seen them) but I feel that the type of comedy that two and a half men does is different and needs the laugh track. Idk, just my opinion I guess.
The only comedies that ever use laugh tracks these days are awful generic wastes of time. If you look at any really good comedy from like the past 5 years, none of them have laughtracks.
I hate laugh tracks and I never really liked 2.5 men (likewise, all my friends liked it too...)
imo, laugh tracks are more for slapstick comedy where they need to emphasis the SLAP in the joke, whereas more witty and/or subtle comedy cannot have laugh tracks because it would just ruin the fun.
Friends had laugh tracks, and everyone loves Friends.

I'm just going to innocently point out that Two and a Half Men is winning awards for being one of the best comedies out there. Not saying I agree or disagree with you, just saying that most people think it is a good show, thus taking away from your argument.
Edit: OP, if you think this debate is taking away from your blog just ask me to stop, don't want to piss anybody off.
Yeah I can agree that a certain brand of comedy is really assisted by a laugh track but it's my opinion that that brand of comedy sucks. Or at least it's a genre with a LOT of bad comedy and so it'd be hard to break the pattern (like a new Seinfeld)
I googled 'Seinfeld laugh track' and this came up, which expresses how I feel: link
Seinfeld, on it's face, was straight-up, ensemble sit-com. But somewhere in the 2nd or 3rd seasons, it become this twisted, original show... that just happened to have a laugh track. After it ended, laugh tracks just seemed to be totally incapable of making an unfunny show funny... it really just made them pathetic.
Now, I've tried to watch some of the new sit-coms that have come out... but anytime the laughs kick in, it really irritates me. I almost feel like the producers are taking me for an idiot, because without the laughs, I wouldn't know that a joke just occurred. The Office doesn't do that... they play out the situations, and YOU get to decide if it works or not.
There are a lot of good articles from that google search. Pretty interesting stuff!
Meh, it's a mindless sitcom. Watch it, chuckle (if you can), and forget about it. Nowadays, it's all about those crazy dramas that get you all emotionally invested in the characters/stories. Or it's random shit like "family guy". Actually, come to think of it, there is still a really funny sitcom: How I met your mother. NPH ftw.
totally with you on this one. i really don't understand how this show is supposed to be the #1 comedy ... actually I can understand it, but it's just a shame people can't watch something that's, well, 100 times better in the office or other various comedies that are much better imo.
Nowadays I guess I don't really realize which shows use laugh tracks and which don't. I also don't watch as much tv as I would like to, so I, luckily, haven't been exposed to most of the bad comedies you guys are talking about. I guess the only time I ever noticed the absence of a laugh track was with MASH, and I thought it made the show feel...weird. So I probably just assumed that that was how all non laugh track comedies were, but I stand corrected because scrubs and the office are amazing. (Come to think of it, any sort of laughter, be it track or audience, would kill the Office.)
I like it, always made me laugh when I watched it on tv. Don't watch it all the time but I definately think it's funny.
I don't think seinfeld is funny at all on the other hand, he's such a terrible comedian I can't stand him, the other guys on his show are alright but he is just terrible at delivering jokes, it's always in some predictable wacky douchebag way. And his voice is annoying as hell too.
i found two and a half men pretty funny. although i don't actually laugh out loud per se (very rare that i do), i enjoy watching it over many other shows on TV. i also find the Big Bang theory pretty funny too.
It's not that bad, but its not really any good either :p Its one of those show I watch if im just sitting on my ass and happen to see its on tv when im browsing through my channels.
This series is so dead with ashton kutcher..... i am not getting what they was thinking when they created walden.... i mean we already got jake, why would we need someone who is dumber than him. i wont follow the new season as much as i followed the old ones with sheen...

what do u think about it?
they should have just stopped producing the show instead of embarrassing themselves even more

yes, put in a good looking celebrity, give him some billion dollars and make him dumb as s***, i expected more from that.
Well, I thought it was kind of funny before, but now that sheen's gone... I haven't seen the new kutcher episodes, not out in Norway yet so I dunno what to think. Ashton kutcher is a piece of sh not my favorite actor in the world though so I dunno

Is that seriously the plot? Wow I googled it and plot of two already autocompleted the show -_- I've only seen an episode. Around the time this blog was made.
With my Dad. This show was and still is just terrible.
Two and a half dudes is my favorite show to watch with a beer in my hand. Laughing crowd sound comedy + Valentin's Weissbier go together like the stars and a powerful telescope. 99% percent of my time spent on earth however.. i spend without drinking beer so despite my earlier remark this show grabs only a spot waay down my list of top comedy series. I like(d) Scrubs, The Office, Seinfeld too but I can even relate to shows like Lucky Louie and old school shit like Married with Children and Cosby Show and all those other shows casting all black families. Back to Chuck Norris .. , ... ah I mean Charlie Sheen. People are just watching him like a Gladiator with a winning streak because they want to witness the point where he starts loosing and falling down, so they can say they saw it coming.
The new episode was a 20 minute torture that I made myself sit through, and now I regret it very much. I don't think they are gonna stop making new series until season 9 is over, but I hope they don't make a season 10.

Unless out of those 29 million people who tuned in on the first episode, at least half or majority liked it. Then there might even be a new season. Very unlikely though.
They need to stop making Jake's father a fucking poor sap. I've never seen such a pathetic man. There's pathetic and then there's professing that you masturbate alone while crying in front your ex-wife and son.
I think they did a really good job with the first episode w/o Charlie. I loved it and I think they found the right role for Ashton which I didn't believe they would before the show.
Fawlty Towers remains a wonderful comedy with a laugh track... sadly, it so seldom works out that well anymore
Even things that had been absolutely wonderful the first time around seem, when rewatching, to be somehow weakened by the fact that someone felt the need to punctuate them with laughter.
But when was the last episode of Fawlty Towers aired? 1979? Also it is arguable that Charlie Sheen et cohorts are only mildly funny while John Cleese is
He's fantastic in any mode and hysterical with his supporting cast. <3 Fawlty Towers.
Same jokes every episode, played out storyline and the Alan character all made me uninterested in the show a few years ago. I know he's just an actor but that bastard has no self respect with the lines he reads out, you couldn't pay me enough to say the shit he does.

This. 100%. My God do they make Alan dip lowwwwwwww
Haven't seen the new episodes with Ashton Kutcher but was this show ever funny?
I also think people are being overcritical with the laugh track. Like unless you have really bad OCD or something I don't see how it's thaaat big of a problem; I generally don't even pay that much attention to it.
I liked the show before... nothing special but it was funny at times but my god wtf is this Ashton Kutchers "adult baby" character?! They actually thought it would be funny for more than 1 episode? WHAAAAAAT
