Dunno if this goes here but I was watching a youtube vod and unfortunately because of my screens resolution I can see the newest comments without scrolling and 9 times out of 10 that comment is a spoiler so I went in search of way fix and found this cool script for greasemonkey

It does all sorts of things but most importantly makes the video bigger. I always hated how small youtube videos were. You have to install greasemonkey which I think is only for firefox, then click "install this script" on that page. It's a black button at the top right.

I don't understand, isn't it better to simply download the video then watch on Gom or VLC with any setting you wish? What's the advantage of this script compared to any other download-youtube-video plugin?

greasemonkey inot only for firefox it's a big myth that ff tries to hold onto that they are the only customizable browser. I think either opera runs greasemonkey scripts unaltered just fine. IE7Pro a plug in for ie has it's own scripts but also you can learn how to modify key words in grease monkey scripts to make them work.

Youtube quality sucks even though they bumped the bandwidth you can watch off their flash codec at best is 700kbp/s i believe but that's not its h.264 condc it's kbp/s is 500ish kbp/s but it gets stereio. Basically if your trying to watch you illegally put on material *cough* anime it's always going to be crappy but most user videos work fine.

userscripts.org list a huge amount of greease monkey scripts.

http://www.ie7pro.com/ for ie a very useful ie addon esp if your using 7. ie8 beta 2 is very complete and doesn't need much from it but i still use it for spell checking and scripts.

opera you should need no help just need a current version i think past 8 works

Not a big deal to alter script if your familiar in reading code esp if you already know javascipt

Not sure about that plug in. in general but i wrote a script to allow me to download the H.264 or &fmt=18 unless it's not offered then it looks for the &fmt=6 and allows the download of that. Scripts like that are useful for auto putting on highest quality by adding &fmt=18 to the end of the url for every /*youtube*/ video.

I believe that script has a download function should add a link.

It makes the video larger on the youtube page. You can still download it and this script even lets you do that as well, but to me thats an annoying extra step. This way I can click youtube links and the video isnt tiny, and I also don't have to go fullscreen which is crappy with flash players since they aren't allowed to stay on top to prevent malicious sites taking advantage (I think thats why) so I can't use my 2nd monitor

:o do you mind sharing the script? Just to clarify.. your script adds &fmt=18 to every youtube video that you watch? Or is it the ones that you download? This would be very very useful haha.

Also, for the Yousabletubefix script in the op, what's the diff between FLV High quality and MPEG-4? (quality-wise) Or are they the same quality just different format. Thanks!

The high quality FLV is 700kbp/s for vid and mono

the MPEG-4 is 550kbp/s i believe and stereo

But in terms of actually vid quality the MPEG-4 is better the codec is better period the FLV is ancient H.263 so although the file is allowed to be bigger the quality isn't

illeszt? What browser do you use "my script" was just modified old one i'm sure there are ones you can dl that are current. I just don't like to dl scripts because i have to read what they do fully in code before i feel like using them.

Cause if you use ff just use the script in this thread is it a great script.

It does not work anymore I think but you can search userscripts.org there are tons of scripts that do that.
