there are some things here that as an american i just cannot explain.

today i was at a pizza hut that had a salad bar. in the salad bar there were 2 interesting items. one was whole, unpeeled bannanas (ok not too too weird). the other was nacho cheese. the thing about the nacho cheese is there was nothing at all to put it on.

gas here is 2x as expensive as in usa. its literally about 8$ a gallon. yet the taxi rides are about 1/3rd as expensive as in boston.

peanut butter costs 5$ for a tiny jar. ouch. really all foreigner food is hella expensive. a small pan pizza at pizza hut was 14$, but if i go to a korean restaurant and get a huge amount of food it is very inexpensive.

the stairs are not uniform heights. often times the top or bottom stair just doesn't line up with what the stairs are leading to, so its some vastly different height. i've almost fallen about 9 times. infact, yesterday it was raining and i went to this pc bang. i start walking down the stairs normally (concrete steps) and fall. my ass bumps down about 6 steps before i finally stop. i look back and the concrete steps are slightly SLANTED FORWARD. WHO MAKES STEPS LIKE THAT? rofl thank god it only made me sore.

today i saw a little singing group of maybe 15 people singing The Yellow Submarine on a busy street corner.

fun times!

hahaha. This is so true. Only in Asia. It's really fucking dangerous if you're not careful and most of the time they don't even have bannisters lol.

Have you been playing bw... you do have wcg comming up and it would be great to see one of our english caster always doing well in tournament play.

And if you have been playing are you getting advice/help from any of the pros your meeting/staying with?

The stairs thing reminds me of being in mexico, I face planted completely sober.

lol yeah the stairs are crazy. i didnt play for about 15 day after getting here, but just started to at pc bangs now. its not the equipment that im used to which makes it a bit annoying, but its better than nothing. ill def be in usa for the wcg finals. i've learned a LOT about the different ways that foreigenrs and koreans look at sc which has made me understand the game itself much more.

not really imo lol

the weather's pretty not that bad here actually..for now xD

And yeah, Pizza Hut is SO expensive. Which one were you at? I was at Myung-Dong (명동) and I think the regular size was 16 bucks and with drinks, the total came out to like 21 dollars.

But clothes and such are really expensive.

I only have measured stairs once (for a lab in physics) but at least in my school the first step was ~1cm shorter than the others so most stairs are probably like that, just not enough to notice.

Isn't this to throw rain away from the stairs :\

But yeah even a couple millimeters difference in step heights on the same staircase can mess people up.

haha sounds like you're enjoying your stay in Korea despite the uneven steps

I hate steps that are slanted forward >:o

It's to increase your multitasking for starcraft.. You have to watch where you're going and watch the steps.. North Americans are lazy when it comes to mutlitasking. But oh! Those Koreans are smart

Have you noticed that just about every PC Bang is open 24 hours a day, and that quite a few of them have their own kitchens instead of little snack bars for Snickers.

Have you tried Peperos yet? Fucking awesome. If you ever find one in english it states right on the box that it can give you cancer rofl. But still try one. You'll be addicted to them. Little Biscuit sticks covered in Chocolate.

I wonder if there are things like this for foreigners in America.

I live in San Diego and nothing here seems strange to me, although maybe the shirtless and barefoot people walking around and getting served in restaraunts may seem odd to a foreigner.

When I lived in Guatemala, they had the SAME EXACT STAIRS. I hated them! What's worse is if you're in a rush and you forget about a particular section (Ie: NO stairs in the middle of stairs. WTF?)

It was dark and going up this certain section the stairs stop for a few steps and it's just a big hole, then the stairs start up again. I forgot about the hole. It was a painful experience I will never forget. I had to have these two little kids help pull me out. ><

Korea sounds like a great place. I'm actually a fan of warm places.
So wait? I'm bad? =(

pizza hut salad bars r soo good. i wonder why they don't have that shit in USA? or do they? tbh i think i've only ever seen them abroad.
anyways i agree with paper. i think the "nacho cheese" you saw was actually a salad dressing of some sort. they have something similar in pizza huts in the middle east.

so do they usually have no limes here? Like if you order a corona or a gin n tonic in the states you would get a lime, but here none? is it just an expensive import?
