I have too much time on my hands right now so I've been watching Death Note. It got me thinking a bit. I ask you guys, if forced to make the choice, would you rather halve your remaining lifespan or have a 50% chance of dying immediately.

Poll: Safe or Risky?
(Vote): Halve my remaining lifespan
(Vote): Take my chances with the 50%

It would be a really tough decision for me, and anyone I assume. I would most likely choose to halve my remaining life. Personally, I'm just not willing to take a 50% gamble with my life. But what about choosing between removing 50% of your remaining life or having a 25% chance of dying right now. If the probability of dying right now is anything above 10%, I'd be very tempted just to halve my remaining life. What about you guys?

edit: This is assuming that your remaining lifespan is determined but you don't know how long it is.

Damn... That's tough.. I'll go with 50/50 seeing as with half lifespan I won't see my kids growing up.

Might as well take the chance of dying immediately instead of living the rest of your life knowing you will die at any time.

Hard as hell, but i'd probably take my chances with the 50% for the same reasons as freedom yay.

If you haven't seen Death Note then the concept of lifespan does seem sorta BS lol. I assume you are not allowed to know what your remaining lifespan is before you make the decision?

being senior citizen isn't so bad. you have no fault. anything you do wrong you blame on your old age. u get caught stealing, simple. "oh really? i thought i paid for that, damn old age it will get you too one day mister heh heh"
